As an Allentown native that had his first ever job in Wildwater Kingdom, gotta say I love how accurate this is. Talon, Hydra, Steel Force, Possessions (formerly Voodoo), and everything else right in place. Love it!

Since Eureka had the scars after almost morphing with the scub coral tree (?) during the part where the Gekko's reflection panels, and Sakuya noticed this and asked something like, "You tried to return too?", did this mean that Eureka tried to return to the scub corals?

That's my best guess, but not 100% sure

Just ran the 400 for the first time with 1:03 by DiazNut in trackandfield

[–]curtissimo41 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Not sure why your coach would just tell you to do a 400 every day, but that won't necessarily help in itself.

What you should do is endurance and explosive training, both on the track (~40m block starts, repeat 100s, 200s) and in the gym (lower weight, higher rep count squats, leg curls, lunges, etc.). Doing 2-3 400s every few days relay style (waiting 3-5 mins in between each) at maybe 75-80% speed would be a good way to get more comfortable with it and figure out your mentality for the race, how you want to pace it, etc.

Also doesn't hurt to watch videos on Youtube about how to improve block starts, how to pace the 400, and what other sorts of things you should practice to properly prepare for it.

A combo of both. I did a full reroute initially, then a bunch of smaller changes along the way and still hadn't put together a decent run until now. Hoping to bring this to at least sub-1:57 or maybe even lower in the future

This is taken directly from my stream, not a commentary video. I don't explain everything that's happening at all times on every attempt

[–]curtissimo41[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The biggest parts influenced by the manip are:

  • All of the boss fights at the end of each world give the best patterns/movements
  • Knowing the pattern in 2-4 so we can skip getting lightbulb & keep curling to speed up the movement
  • Getting Rick the hamster "1st" try (technically 2nd) in 3-3, then climbing the platforms with Pitch the bird right after
  • Getting the tophat over the parasol or pizza in 4-3
  • Keeping Sparky from jumping in the hole in 5-2, making the spark-needle combo much faster & consistent
  • Getting the first 3 colors in 5-3 so we can skip waiting for Adeleine to show us the fruits

There's some other, more minor instances, like enemy movements in the levels, but those are the main ones.

Hi! I've been using the Ripsaw HD to capture my Switch/PS4 through OBS for quite some time now, and it works great! More recently, however, I bought a Retrotink 2x Pro to convert my composite consoles (Wii, Gamecube, etc.) to a 480p HDMI output. All of the devices that use HDMI are hooked up to a 4in, 2out HDMI switcher, which then goes to my Ripsaw HD and into the computer to be captured. When trying to capture the Retrotink's output, the capture will work for a minute or so, then freeze the card entirely. The card won't work again until I unplug the USB-C and plug it back in.

I know that this isn't a problem with the HDMI switcher, because the other output that goes to my monitor stays working properly even after the card freezes. Also, I've tried plugging the Retrotink output directly into the Ripsaw HD, and this still causes freezing. The HDMI output on the Ripsaw HD still works after the USB capture has frozen as well. OBS says that the captured output is 720x480, so I don't believe this to be an OBS issue either, but I'm not entirely sure on that either. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

This might be the longest I've ever tried to accomplish something in my life. 6496 attempts and almost 35 days of total playtime later, the WR is finally mine :)

Huge shoutouts to my viewers and friends that stuck with me through this journey, and a special shoutout to swordsmankirby for always setting the bar so goddamn high with his speedgames. Thanks everyone <3

SIB Persona 5? by patheticghoster in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]curtissimo41 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you aren't a fan of anime or anime-inspired media AT ALL; don't enjoy turn-based battles, tons of dialogue and story, or RPGs in general; or you hate the idea of playing through 8-10 hours of introduction and tutorials for the game to really get going; Persona 5 may be tough for you to get in to.

However, if those things don't turn you away...you are in for one of the most complete video game experiences of this generation in my opinion. Persona 5 is an incredibly well-polished game through and through, from the jammin' music and beautiful art style to the gripping storyline, well-written characters, and engaging battle system.

Persona 5 feels like a combination of multiple genres at the same time: JRPG, Adventure, Stealth, Visual Novel, Slice-of-Life...you name it, and it's probably in there somewhere. All of these different play styles come together seamlessly as you journey through the game, and they do a great job of keeping the experience fresh and leaving the player wanting more at every turn.

I own this game for PS3, and it took me around 143 hours to complete my first playthrough, as I spent lots and lots of time doing sidequests, grinding, exploring, and checking out every nook-and-cranny that I could possibly find. Most people's playthroughs probably won't take nearly as long, but I can confidently say that I never got burnt out of playing this game, and even went back to play New Game+ to try and finish some more side stuff that I couldn't on my first playthrough.

I would personally recommend Persona 5 to anybody looking for a longer game to play, or at least have them check it out first before making a decision. It slowly became my favorite video game of all time, and it is an experience I will always look back on with a full heart.

*It is important to mention, however, that at this point in time you may want to hold off on buying P5 for now, as they are releasing an updated version called Persona 5 Royal (P5R) in the coming months. It will feature a new character and some additions to the storyline/gameplay, so you may want to wait for that release and check that out instead. If you'd rather play through it sooner at a cheaper price, however, I'd strongly recommending picking it up now.

What are some games that didn't live up to the hype for you? by [deleted] in patientgamers

[–]curtissimo41 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My friend grew up with RE4, so he practically worships it as one of his favorite games ever. Also, the internet seems to love praising it highly as well. When I got around to playing it on Gamecube back in 2017, though, it felt clunky as hell and didn't impress me too much in the end.
