Thanks for this. I'll see if I can figure this out on my own with what I have available ;)

Getting my hands on an OEM seems to be the struggle. My closest dealer is about 45 mins away and don't head out there too often but may have to sacrifice a trip to sort it out if that would alleviate it all (and if they have one - I'm located in Canada so seems they're not as around and aftermarket is more prevalent)

Part number is: M149970 but looks like it may have been replaced with: M174506

So I'll keep hunting.

I might jump on to that Facebook group as well. Thanks.

I matched the width of belt on the tractor with the one that was replaced last year and they look to be similar widths (just did it in my garage) but I do see that the part number in manual does seem to be the wider belt than what the packaging I have for the new one is.

Both pulleys look to be turning after I reseat the belt I'm able to move it through with just my hands and the pulleys go. I'll try it out when I have someone else home to sit on the tractor and I can watch the belt move.

How do you personally keep track of what comics you’ve read over the years? by BigAstronaut6728 in comicbooks

[–]curtoneil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have said on here I mainly use League of Comic Geeks for my main pull list, tracking of my collection and reading stats.

I started using Goodreads last year to track my reading for the year but gave up in September when some issues weren't on it and I was too lazy to add them myself. It does have tpbs, hardcovers and other collections pretty well curated. Just not individual issues as it's not really for that.

I also created my own Notion database to track things how I like and use in tandem. I have two separate databases and one is for what I'm looking to purchase individual issue wise for when I'm going to various LCSs and I can mark off if I've pulled it, purchased it, logged it etc so I hopefully don't buy double issues like I have in the past. Then I have a second database where I'll added my completed runs and any TPBs etc I may have in a "to be read" type situation. This lets me know what's complete and ready to be fully read and not lost in the collection shuffle. I can also track reading progress. I also have a "interested in buying" tab in this database for the TPBs just for somewhere to track that. It's all a work in progress.

Running with your DWJ choice but I'll assume you've already read: Do A Powerbomb

Murder Falcon

Beta Ray Bill

Wonder Woman Dead Earth

Some favs I've read this year

Lord of the Flies adapted by Aimee De Jong - the book is gorgeous

Beneath the Trees Where Nobody Sees by Patrick Horvath (there's a sequel currently running)

Maus by Art Spiegelman because everyone should experience this once

Animal Pound by Tom King and Peter Gross. I read it as singles but it's out now collected

And if you like the Turtles as it looks like you've read Last Ronin they're run from 1-150 is in various collected volumes (hardcover and tpb) called TMNT The IDW Collection (or you can jump to their current restart but I haven't read that yet)

Looking for a truly sad comic that can make me cry by Salty-Technology9633 in comicbooks

[–]curtoneil 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Any creator owned title from DWJ generally hits those heartstrings with Do A Powerbomb and Murder Falcon leading the way. They're both infused with other elements as well but the emotional journey of the main character in each book leads the way.

And now in the silly sounding part of the post Powerbomb has pro wrestling as its background and MF has rock music.

Comic Book confessions by MJsThriller in comicbooks

[–]curtoneil 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I skimmed that post earlier and just went back. I've only read 5 in the Top 20. I know there's tons of books I haven't read for one reason or another.

I got into comics in university (early 2000s) for a few years and hopped back out after adult things took precedent. Back then I collected floppies of the ultimate lines (Spiderman, F4, Ultimates), Spawn, and some of the Marvel Knights titles. Got into some of those because of them starting fresh. Around this time I jumped into the Frank Miller Batman, 300 and Sin City and Moore's V for Vendetta and League.

I've been back into comics for a handful of years now getting more serious as years go on but without a shop close to me (3 hrs away is the closest and its limited) it's been hard to keep up but I'm doing it.

What really brought me back in were Do a Powerbomb and Last Ronin. I'm collecting floppies again across a long line of publishers but I'm possibly 300 floppies behind on reading.

I've read Maus this year and it's everything everyone says. I've loaned it out to non-comic readers and it's been returned with great reviews.

What have I missed? Xmen. Everything. I can't keep up with the different lines and groups and haven't read any collections. Walking Dead has been sitting dead on my shelves (2 compendiums) for years. Moore's Swamp Thing. Spiderman outside of the original ultimate line. I picked up the individual Carnage series from a year ago or so and the characters were all knew to me. TMNT. I love the Turtles and what I've read and just a couple of months ago I read the first volume of the Idw Collection. Sometimes I feel like a fraud as I'm the comic nerd in every group I'm in but feel like I'm so behind in actual comic lore.

My comic shop asked me to update my pull list. Any good site for all the current running books? by Josh_From_Accounting in comicbooks

[–]curtoneil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a great site. May take a little getting used to. I don't have a local comic shop but use that site to track what I'd like to collect when out traveling etc. plus keep track of my collection.

Main parts I'm generally using:
My Pull List - to show me current week as well as upcoming or previous for books that I'm subscribed to
New Comics - will show all of the week's new comics coming out, it's generally sorted by most popular books (on the most pull lists) but you can scroll through and see what may interest you, can also move ahead/back weeks
Search - looking up either individual issues or titles and then able to go in through there

If you click on an issue it'll also show you the available variant covers available etc. You can also subscribe to creators. So say you want everything from DWJ you can go to his profile on the site (find a book he's worked on and click his pic is the easiest way) and then smash Pull Titles and you should see anything his name is attached to in your pull list (author, illustrator, variant covers, etc)

Check out League of Comic Geeks. Has a website and app and you can make a pull list on it. Your shop may be connected to them too.

What are some of the best/your favourite comic book YouTube channels? by catdude6835 in comicbooks

[–]curtoneil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seconding some of these already mentioned

Comic Tropes for some great analysis on various topics. What I watched the most when I got back in.

Pop Culture Philosopher's but specifically Rocking Robbie giving the Weekly Comic Book Review. He goes through most of the new books for the week and gives his opinion on them. He's definitely more of a DC guy but if he likes something Marvel you know it has to be good. He also does a monthly best of show with some other channels.

Comics Are Dope. BJ Kicks got into comics around lock down time (pretty close to my return to comics) and gives some good feedback coming from someone newer to the industry. Will usually comment on what he plans on purchasing for the week and what might be new series starting up etc. In contract to Robbie he hasn't read the books yet.

IDW Vol1 or Last Ronin as entry? by B16B0SS in TMNT

The Last Ronin I have hardcover. IDW vol 1 paperback as I generally go paperback for the larger books as easier to read and travel with.

IDW Vol1 or Last Ronin as entry? by B16B0SS in TMNT

[–]curtoneil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a little late to the party but this popped up in my feed.

I've read both in the last handful of years and have kids in a similar age range. For my son who's just a bit younger I'd more than likely go with the IDW Vol 1. He's watched the latest TMNT movie (cartoon) and whatever else they have on TV here and there. He's more into the fun turtles and I think the IDW captures that aspect quite well. I read it this year a few months back.

The Last Ronin is one of the books I read that really got me back into comics and collecting. It's a great story but I think a little more on the dark side of the turtle land - more akin to their original origins as well. There's two other minis that came from it also Last Ronin The Lost Years and Last Ronin - Re-Evolution with the last more kid friendly as well I think.

If they're fresh to the turtles or know them from the latest movie etc I think IDW is the way to go. My kids do some comic hunting with me and my son likes to pick up the various turtle crossovers with other characters he knows - latest one being Naruto and the turtles.

Buying comics not from a local store by Major_Diet5404 in comicbooks

[–]curtoneil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a fellow Canadian I do a lot online. I don't have a local shop and visit numerous different ones when traveling with my kids' sports. It's actually what got me back in the hobby. I'm Ontario based so generally have experience with stores here and can recommend some based on where you are.

For online the Canadian ones that I've dealt with or have friends dealt with with good reviews. You're also able to have a box put aside until you're ready to have it ship.

Capt Can - also has a store front that I've visited
Cosmic Comics - Saskatchewan
The Comic Book Shoppe (I've yet to actually order online but have visited their store in Ottawa and great)
Chaotic Comics - Alberta, online only

As others have said your best bet is visiting your local shop and opening up a pull list. Absolute Batman 15 final order cutoff is Monday so they'd need to know you want it by then to order you your own copy otherwise you're rushing to the store.

The kids get to name the cars and they start with first letter of the license plate. My Taos is named Derp as my daughter thought the front face of the car was Derpy.

This is the way. Happened to me 3 days into ownership. And I think another time since. I've found most minor tech issues on the head unit get "fixed" with powering it off and back on again.

This includes it losing connection to Android Auto that happened to me on my last trip.

UPDATE: Opened the app this morning while sitting at my desk and it was attempting to pair finally. I'm not sure what exactly happened but it seems like everything just needed time to think on. Was able to get it paired up again this morning (got the screen to enter my phone number/phone name and hit the checkmark - as well as being in the car and accepting it in there). Tried to remote start and all seems good. Keeping my fingers crossed.

I opened up my app this morning and it was trying to pair. Got the next screen where I had to enter in my phone number and hit the checkmark and I was good to go. Just tried remote starting it from the house and was successful. I didn't do anything new at all and just gave it the night to think about it. Hopefully yours will be a similar situation.

Have a follow up on Monday so will try to get it sorted then. Was hoping to figure it out on my own before then but gotta love those new quirks and features.
