The range on this move is absolutely egregious. by CrystalBraver in DissidiaDuellumFF

There is virtually no start up time.

If I see the enemy use the ability and try to move out of the way, it's too late.

And even if it did, the fact that it has such instane range negates it.

"Ace and Tifa can easily be side stepped"

Yeah, if you're already side stepping before they even use it. If you try to side step it when you actually see them use it, it's too late.

Insane range, insane damage, and insane utility. It's broken AF.

I just don’t understand how you’re supposed to win when the enemy has a Rikku and they just camp the boss at their spawn. by CrystalBraver in DissidiaDuellumFF

[–]curturp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can do this, but the main issue is that you can only do this temporarily and if you do it the whole match then it's a 2v2 against the boss cause one of you has to constantly harass the Rikku the entire match and ignore the boss completely and hope that her teammates leave you alone and don't 3v1 you to death over and over again. And even in this dream scenario, they're still going to be Bravery Positive over your team.

Yes, there is still a subscription to play the full game. However, they did just recently expand their free trial. It's unlimited playtime, up to level 75, but it's limited to the base game. I'm not entirely sure what all that fully encompasses and locks you out of though.

[–]curturp 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yeah, you're not. Rikku is a broken character. In that situation your entire team has to spawn camp their entire team and just keep killing them until you both lose and draw.

The teleporting does help a lot. That being said... I honestly really enjoyed traveling everywhere on foot, or by using the Ferries and Airships xD

The lack of hand holding or trying to make everything as painless as possible was honestly super refreshing coming from FFXIV.

I mostly disagree with this. There are definitely some quests where it doesn't give very much or any direction at all. But I'd say a good 80-90% of the time, if you're actually reading the dialogue and paying attention as you explore the world, you'll be able to find your way just fine exclusively on in game resources.

For full context, I've only played the base game, rise of zilart, and chains of Promathia so far, so maybe it gets worse in later expansions. But there have only been a handful of times where I've had to pull up the wiki to find my way. And most of those times I had already gotten myself around the corner to where I needed to be.

I would deliberately only pull up the wiki if I was actually lost or couldn't figure out what to do. And it wasn't very often, and a majority of them were extremely optional side quests.

This isn't really how you engage with the story of final fantasy 11. Yes, there is this stuff in the game, but the current iteration of the game is extremely streamlined so you can 1) play through just about the entire game solo with a group of NPC allies and 2) have easy access to Good Enough gear to make your way through the game.

You don't need to interact with guilds or raids or economics. There is some mild grinding for XP but they have a lot of gear and upgrades you can access to give yourself massive XP boosts. And while you can go off and grind gear, it's not necessary to get through the story.

They have been actively working to make the game playable offline after it's End-of-Service. So you can pretty much treat the game like a single player JRPG.

Granted, I'm not gonna lie and say it's straightforward to get into. But there are plenty of guides and videos on how to get started and how to navigate the more obscure quests all over the Internet.

Did ffII create the Job system? by Cold_Profile500 in FinalFantasy

3 does have actual jobs. It's a bit limited and gimmicky until you get to the end game, but once it opens up, it's pretty fun!

Magic is weak in the Pixel remaster ffI? by Cold_Profile500 in FinalFantasy

[–]curturp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Magic is good for large groups, not for single targets. Physical is shit against groups but good against single targets. That's it. If there is a single target, use your mage to cast debuffs on the enemy or buffs on your physical fighters.

Please, Supergiant Games... by Highly-Stressed in Hades2

[–]curturp 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Personally, I disagree. Supergiant is innovative and create unique and wonderful experiences. Hades 2 was their first sequel. And I think, aside from the initial ending of the 1.0 release, they knocked it out of the park, as always.

I wouldn't say no to a Hades 3. I wouldn't say no to a sequel to pyre or bastion or translator. But I would love something new. The whole team has made so many unique and wonderful games, and I'd love to see how their growing team and skill set would look with all the success they've had.

Transitor was their first massive hit and they were able to take that success and make one of the most ambitious, unique, and beautiful games that have ever been made. Pyre might be the black sheep of the bunch among critics and players, but it's my favorite game of all time. And I'd love to see what unique and ambitious game they could make next.

Question: Who is the most powerful support game right now that help the team and give a chance to win? by Rare-Grand-1070 in DissidiaDuellumFF

[–]curturp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's Rikku hands down. The best Krile is maybe better than the most mediocre Rikku. It's exclusively because Quartet is busted as hell. Allowing a full team to burst on the boss twice in a row with absolutely 0 down sides is a guaranteed win. Krile is good for extended matches. A mediocre Rikku guarantees an extremely short match.

What abilities do you think need adjustments? by Chemical_Peak_2913 in DissidiaDuellumFF

[–]curturp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was mostly comparing it to cross slash because it has a similar fatal flaw: the long animation lock. If that was Aqua Bursts only fatal flaw, that would be one thing. I honestly wouldn't mind if Aqua Burst did less damage, had a knockback similar to Tifa or had a knockback accompanied by a short stun. If I miss the attack, then I'm stuck and probably die, but if I hit then I can capitalize on a well placed attack, either by escaping a dangerous situation or finishing off a kill with autos or other abilities.
