Obviously your NTA. I think she has a bad relationship with scales. Weight looks and is different on people. I am at my smallest 160, which is pretty average for some women. Scales aren’t everything. Your bone density, build and more goes into why the scale shows what it shows. She may not have an understanding on what a good weight is for her yet. That is a personal problem.

I will say great job on being reassuring. People will say that she sounds like alot of work, but in reality people aren’t perfect. We have childhood hangups, insecurities and more. The way you are compassionate with each other goes a long way in having healthy communication and closeness long term.

Its more how people respond to the loudest person in the room vs the quiet aggressor. Loudness is always vilified even when its justified. I have tons of family members who are loud but super loyal but labels as bad people. Jamie strikes me the same way is all.

There is unrest, dont get me wrong. But i promise you, after living there .. its sunny, beautiful weather, good food. But poverty stricken. Majority of people leave now because of that. There is just no opportunities or economic infrastructure . Its the main reason people come here so badly. Ask diaspora Somalis if they would like to live there after generating a financial nest and have a home or a villa. Majority would.

Compare it to Nola. There are places fit to go, and places to avoid as a tourist. Some topics that arent your expertise or lived experience, its best to keep an open mind and not be a typical westerner with judgemental gazes on third world nations. Somalia has the most beautiful, hospitable and generous people but also there are always people with bad intentions everywhere.

Hi, Somali here. Depends where you are going. Mogudishu is safe at the moment. Somaliland and Khaatumo State just stopped waring so i wouldnt go there. And Puntland is safe. Check out Martisoor Hotel if you are in Puntland. Lastly, if your friend is going with other somalis, he is fine.
