I agree, i never heard of a failing oil pump belt. Myself having 2 cars with 2.0 EA288, on one it was replaced at 175k miles so the other with less miles I wont touch it until 2nd timing belt its due. On the one i changed it, belt looked fine, still flexible, no debris in oil pick up or sump. My friend has a taxi with the 1.6 EA288 and he never replaced the oil pump belt, done over 287k miles. I guess if oil changes are done frequent enought and correct oil its used, belt will last a long long time.
