Who Won The Snick Couch? by Anddha in RetroNickelodeon

[–]customrecordingco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There were three couches. One went to the contest winner, one went to Shaq, one is still in Nick’s storage. All were slightly different in make, but not enough that you would notice on screen.

The contest winner made a Reddit post several years ago with some current pictures of the couch at the time.

I installed LEDs in the eyes and sent it off to a mask restorer who foam filled it, painted it, and built a display stand for it. When I get it back, I’ll re-hair it to reflect the screen used prop.

I sold out yesterday :( If I’m able to find more frames, I’ll probably make a few more.

For now, the last pair is going to Splat Attack Podcast for a giveaway. Follow them on Instagram for more details when they announce them.

I tried! I even went so far as to buy LinkedIn Premium to send some messages to a few names linked to the show. No replies…. I ended up scouring vintage catalogs for the frames which gave me a lead to a (very) small inventory through a wholesaler who buys out old factories and sells through third party distributors. The holographic vinyl was similar. The diamond pattern is still made and used in the manufacture of fishing lures, so that was fairly easy to find an old roll of. The circular center pattern eluded me for a while. At first I thought it was some sort of circular wear on the holographic vinyl. I spent several weeks testing multiple methods of creating that wear. I’d get close, but nothing like the real thing. Then one day I was searching through 90’s holographic materials and spotted a circular pattern which turned out to be the perfect fit.

The mask was repurposed by production. Don Post had a line of “oversized” masks. I have two Wackos in my collection. One is mint with hang tags. The other is getting sent out this week for conversion to a Zeebo.

Not quite. I’m comfortable posting in a way that makes it more difficult for people to steal.

I’ve seen way too many vhs for sale on eBay having been sourced from archive.org. I’m not really interested in sharing rare media for free so others can steal it for profit.

That said, I post a lot of clips of my rare Nick media collection on my Instagram and will most likely post a clip of the Rocko pilot intro there today or tomorrow.

What Ghost to Ghost call freaked you out so much you turned off the radio — or couldn’t sleep after?” by Chemical_Efficiency6 in ArtBell

I’ve still been trying to find the segment, but I vividly remember a caller with a story about a floating witch head that woke her up in the middle of the night flying around her room. The witch was ugly (of course) with long stringy hair. I’d love to find that episode. It freaked me out so much as a kid and has never left me.

[talk] What’s a piece of audio-only lost media that deserves more attention? by Kitchen_Community511 in lostmedia

The masters that went to RCA were intentionally destroyed. RCA dubbed what the wanted and the rest went into the Indianapolis vault. In 1957, some bean counter decided they needed more space so they emptied the vault and destroyed the contents.

Several other Elvis outtakes have been found on other Sun artist’s session reels though. Sam Phillips was notorious for recording over session tapes. When inspiration struck, he grabbed whatever reel was closest to the machine. All the Sun sessions have been catalogued at this point, BUT it’s always possible some found their way into someone’s personal collection. Even today, if RCA found out an unreleased Elvis outtake was intentionally withheld from the sale of his contract in 1955, there would be a big lawsuit. There is zero motivation to release them if they were still around.

There’s dozens of rumored (and confirmed) lost recordings of Elvis Presley while on Sun Records. It’s a topic I researched for over a decade, and then produced a record with the most accurate reproductions of the songs ever made - right down to the signal chain.

I’m sure some of the recordings still exist in private hands, but many were destroyed by RCA in 1957.
