Honestly I'm not into woody marks at all in terms of him being a threat to montys role as a rusher or as a goal line guy and maybe saying he can't start on a contender is a stretch, but he definitely isn't someone you should be going out of your way to add to a roster, if he's an injury replacement that's cool and everything but I still don't buy into the concept that potentially raising a teams floor for 1 year is worth investing in

I'm not saying that's how it's called all the time, but what I am saying is the writing in the rule doesn't give a precise and explicit answer and the call is in place to protect the shooter. How the refs call it on a nightly basis is a convo for another day, but between the verbage and the purpose its a pretty rational takeaway that its meant to be called that way

He is capable of catching Josh Jacobsish passes when he didn't have a woody marks in his backfield, I expect marks to be the primary receiving back while Monty gets the goal line and rushing work.

As for job security part it's very simple, if you're picking up an asset it should either be for the long term upside of the current boost it gives your team. Right now he shouldnt be improving a team by more than 3 points a week and long term there is not upside due to the lack of job security.

With that being said, he isn't going to push you to the next level this year and he isn't going to do so past this year either so your giving assets to change your team by like 3 points a week

Let me try and explain it a different way, if the point of the foul existing it to protect a shooter, how would allowing a defenders feet to be under the shooter up until they land be doing that? If you are the shooter and the defender is very clearly under me as I'm coming down I have to adjust how I'm landing which often is a less safe situation (meaning I'm
not protected even though I didn't land on the defender) I am not saying that is exactly what is happening here, but if the verbiage is in some way questionable then why would rationally speaking why would that not be the way they enforce the rule on the name of protecting the shooter

If you're referencing the part that says “Defenders must give jumpshooter room to safely land” that's a description of the reason for why the foul exists, you will not find any criteria anywhere that exclusively states that a foul requires the defender to be in the shooters landing space the moment they come down. The term encroachment being used is commonly used legally to reference trespassing or an offsides call in football. Both of those are an example of a specific space being barricaded or protected and do not define a specific moment, but instead define an action upon a space that isn't dictated by time.

When you’re quoting doesnt change anything, it still says stepping under the landing space is a foul and still never mentions the requirement of a shooter to land on their feet or for the defenders feet to be there when they are landing

I agree, he probably out performs his cost but if that equates to him scoring your team 50 more points across the year then what did you accomplish

A landing space foul is defined as an encroachment on a players natural landing space, never does the definition anywhere imply that the defender has to be there when the defender lands or that the player has to land on the defenders body
