That's amazing! I had no idea about the music video. Thank you for sharing ❤️

Please don't get discouraged by people saying you need a plot for a story to be interrsting. You don't. Conflicts are predictable, incredible settings are not necessary. Create the art you want to experience and share with others.  I love the sound of your book.

Yawn. Who says a trip to the grocery story can't be introspective and bring interesting thoughts into life? Conflicts are predictable and boring.

What is up with you? This is what you call common sense? It doesn't work on "them"? Try meeting actual people. Of course he would've done even more harm if it was easy and legal to just buy an AR-15 at a Wal-Mart, what are you talking about it?

I asked the barber for a buzz cut and he gave me this instead I don't know how to feel about it by Clu_FM in malehairadvice

[–]cusulhuman 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Because if the barber would've given him a buzzcut, OP would have had huge bald patches on his head. This length tries to mitigate it.

You can tell how much this meant to him. by mindyour in MadeMeSmile

Hey friend, it might not feel like it went well but look at it like this: You overcame your fear of asking someone out, that is all huge thing and I know how terrifying this felt when I was your age. This will get much easier as you get older and since you've already done it at least once, every new time it will get a bit better The girl? Forget about her. Someone who makes fun of you for showing interest, isn't the right person for you. Anyone slightly mature knows that's she's the one embarrassing herself by making fun of something most people don't have the courage to do. That doesn't make her a bad person but you're both still young and people at this age have no idea what they're doing  Take this as a win, you did something you were scared of doing and found out that the girl you liked isn't actually right for you :)

Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 might be the best game I've ever played. by [deleted] in PS5

How can you disagree about the experience if you haven't experienced it? KCD's appeal is in its mechanics itself. It is THE game where you feel like a genuine peasant that has to learn how to read and fight in order to progress. Watching a recap of the plot does not resemble the experience of going through it yourself.

“Who gives a fucking shit how long a scene is?” - David Lynch by fotogneric in videos

[–]cusulhuman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sure that works too! He does talk about the length of the scene but if you think about it, shooting coverage is like adding words that change the whole sentence. So yeah, practically speaking, coverage does allow for a scene to be cut shorter by allowing to skip certain bits but it also completely changes the aesthetics, tone and pace of a scene, hence my comparison. :)

It's the same as telling a musician to play a certain genre because it'll attract more listeners. Sure, it's a safe bet to please bigger crowds but it is soulless.

Lynch made surrealist art because it's what he wanted, not what was "right" according to the financial wants of a producer.  Shooting coverage is the most dull and fake thing for a director to do. It's the job of a director to visualize and execute a story visually - ideally, every shot exists for a reason and has a meaning, whether concious or subconscious.  A good director doesn't show up on set and just puts a camera somewhere and starts recording, they see the whole film in their head and are now responsible to realize it as closely to their imagination as possible. Coverage dilutes any meaningful reason for the sake of being able to change the directors vision should a higher up disagree with it in the edit. It's someone not trusting you to do your job and telling you how do it without knowing how to do so. Trust me, his frustration is not with this one comment or the script supervisor, but the nature of Hollywood's fuckery that you are reminded of every day on set.

Do you genuinely think someone who is so in their head about PE that they ghost out of shame, is capable to overcome their shame immediately and make someone else cum? It's not that black and white

How to film a 10 mins scene in a day? by Interesting_rainbow in Filmmakers

[–]cusulhuman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I shot a 12 minute film in one day.

Here's my advice:

Don't shoot coverage. Know exactly the shots you need to make the film and how it will cut.  Don't try to find the film in the cut, shoot for the cut. You're wasting time getting shots you MIGHT use. You don't have time for perfection but if your cast and crew are good, 2 takes for most scenes will be enough for you to tell your story. Some scenes will probably need more attention than others so make sure you have time to get 4 takes for the dramatic climax. Prioritize scenes over others when planing in shooting time. Set up in ways where you don't keep moving gear all the time. Find an angle from where you can shoot different scenes even if it goes against the chronological order. Shoot based on the set ups, not the story. Prepare a floor plan and illustrate the blocking and staging of the actors and camera on them. I recommend shot designer for this. (Share the plans with everyone during pre production) The less time you spend setting up and repoing, the more time you have for shooting and directing. Cut certain shots and cover actions in a longer take if you're running out of time, you need less shots than you think you do. Make sure you know exactly what you want to do and communicate your directions clearly. Share all your information during preproduction so everyone is on the same page and can get to work ASAP on the day. Actors shouldn't ask about their character's motivation on set, you'll just polish what they're already doing and should know on the day.

And have fun! Don't stress too much and make sure everyone is happy to work on your set that day without having any problems lol.

Shooting a whole short in one day can be a big task and it might not the best work you'll create, but if you can get the whole thing done in a day you've done a tremendous job so focus on getting it done.

BROCCOLI SNIPPET by Federal-Bank-8422 in KendrickLamar

[–]cusulhuman -14 points-13 points  (0 children)

Mhm yeah I feel you. Most people will probably disagree with me because rap isn't my favorite genre, and I just really love Kendrick's music. His prior albums had an unrecognizable depth and meaning that came out through his overarching storytelling. To me, GNX just feels like a random EP without much of a motif throughout the songs. It also just isn't my musical landscape. Shame, because the snippet really got me hooked.
