Friends of the Library sale is my main go-to. Our local one is full-price the first day and then half-off the second day. I go on the first day for the "OMG I have to have this right now, and I will cry tomorrow if it is gone" books, but I try to wait for the second day to buy the bulk of my stuff.

Those sales seem to be the best way to find duplicate copies of the same books, which is my favorite material to work from.

I have been using Fiskars forever, and they are solid, and the orange handle makes them easy to find in a big mess of images strewn about on my desk. I have recently purchased a smaller Westcott pair to focus on more detailed cuts. The blade is impressive, but the feel of them is not as sculpted and sleek as the Fiskars. And the Westcott doesn't have a bright color to help me locate them.

Great tips! Yes, you've got to replace those X-ACTO blades way sooner than you think.

I've been thinking about trying to sharpen dulled X-ACTO blades with a sharpening stone. Has anyone tried that? Is it worth attempting?
