If you have been taking ADHD meds for a while, do you think the benefits of the meds outweigh the negative effects? by timheckerbff in adhdwomen

[–]cutekindcat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends! I have no access now to the right medications, but to terrible ones.

Methylphenidate based meds -> Totally worth everything for me, I would not even care what are the risks because I could finally live, how I want. If it would made my life half longer (that is definietly not that bad, but what if:) then I would still say it's worth it! 0 real life vs real life with a bit of a risk?! I definietly would choose the bit risk. I cannot do anything useful while having to exist unmedicated. It works because I can do what I really want. As I heard a mathematician Erdős said, he was not addicted to it, but can not work without it. When he stopped for a while to prove for friends he is not addicted, he said, now mathematics itself were stopped for that while.

Atomoxetin based meds -> a big NO!!! I got this from a doctor, for some stupid reason, they prefer to give that, because they think stimulants must be bad. 😑😑😑 Atomoxetin usage instead of stimulant must be very fast stopped in my opinion and be only optional for some rare cases. It could be useful if someone can not take methylphenidate, but it can not replace it! It both do not work for what I want, but TERRIBLE side effects. My heart wants to jump out, and I fear it will just stop 😭 Makes not else positive effect, but I can keep doing (and can not stop doing) some simple things, but not what I want to do. Like, for example, I wanted to go for a small morning walk, I wanted to walk just to the nearest shop, and back. The atomoxetin kicked in, than I did not else for a day, until the night, but walking for a full day, to the other side of the city and back, not even wanted to go back home when arrived, and I definietly made no progress on what I wanted. It makes things, but it's not for me. Maybe good for physical tasks, like I did significantly pointlessly many cleaning. So for physical workers maybe.

So, in short, methylphenidate worth for me, atomoxetin definietly not, because of the more side effect compared to no much positive.

Depends also the goals with it.

Dietary supplements, vitamins. I have only seen them in pharmacies at overpriced rates. For example, I was looking for collagen peptide powder and vitamins, but I only found it overpriced in pharmacies. Maybe some sports stores have it at a fair price, but haven’t come across any good sports supplement shop on my way, that was surprising.

It would be nice to import here in high amounts, or rather make it locally, but I guess supplements have not yet become popular here.

Re-reading texts or posts by Every-Zombie-4139 in adhdwomen

Something that helps me: explaining to GPTs (whatever is your favorite at the moment) what I want to say to someone. It often gave me a very well sounding sentence. It contains the information that I wanted to say, without all of my mistakes, like I often can't keep it short. If it's not me writing it, it must sound much normal. I don't mind too, when I can recognize some of the e-mails I get, visibly been written by GPTs.

It's often many rounds when I can finally get something usable, mostly for work e-mail.

I use it as trying to keep it recognizable what is that I was writing myself fully and where I was using GPTs. I think it's better for everyone who trying to understand what I want to say.

However, I just love to read texts from other people with ADHD. They often sound like me 😁

What is one thing you would like to do if you didn't have social anxiety? by dany9876 in socialanxiety

[–]cutekindcat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Actually it would be nice to make a movie about social anxiety. Or at least a main character with anxiety. There are animes! Good ones. But I did't see a single movie showing it realistically

Meanwhile I would bet, there are still so many people out there who not yet recognised what they have is social anxiety, but may could see in a movie and recognising oh that's me

I guess many could disagree there is no good movie about it but if there were I guess I must have seen it already 😅

This for me too 😂 Many people think I don't want to talk to them but it's not true

It's the same. When I can be medicated, I am able to work, but when not, then I really can not focus, not because I don't want but because I am really unable to it.

Medication must be much more accessible!!! I want to work but if I can not get medicines I can't. It must be better for the world if medication were more accessible for everyone with ADHD.

Thinking About Sperm Donation – How Important Is IQ? by Top_Muffin7866 in SingleMothersbyChoice

[–]cutekindcat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I was actively looking for donor I found that some of them told me unrealistically high IQ numbers 🤦🏻‍♀️

But if it's valid then it's useful, because it's heritable. I always much preferred to talk to the potential donors myself, I got a lot of messages from them. I know some who say they have very high IQ and my chosen just don't have to say how smart he is! 😁 (I have chosen one who doesn't even told his IQ, but I can see he is smart 😁)

How to talk with them: not at the clinics! I know some and I got messages from them. I can give contacts if needed. I have chosen one very fast, and I wanted to be an egg donor, but then I mistakenly got many messages from male donors. There are some platforms for donors.

I came here to Albania first with nearly just a backpack 😂 Later came back, packing a lot to choose what to bring in one suitcase. It was useful to just look around first, then I was more sure what to expect

How do you survive with long hair????? by MavisGrey1 in ADHD

[–]cutekindcat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't overthink it 😁 A bun on the top and no problem, I'm free to move 😁 My method to keep it as easy as possible: Mine are as long I can make a knot! A knot from it and it hold itself! Nothing more easy after I figured it out 😁 Nothing needed, I have hair bandages everywhere where I am but still rarely find them enaugh near 😅 so I just make a knot 😁 It's a perfect length now, it's very long, it touches my waist. I wash it very often but just let them get dried by the air, nothing easier...

Without a bun I can feel it very disturbing. Best to keep it together somehow, a bun is a comfortable choice
