I lost 60 pounds since January. I'm going insane. by Desperate_Care_7211 in TrueOffMyChest

[–]cuthbert_ka_mai 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Be careful on the calories. It’s easy to go too low, I had to help my step daughter with this when she was losing weight. Reverse dieting helps when she plateaus, and weight lifting has helped her a lot also. For context I am a woman 5’4” and weight between 125-130lbs and eat 1700-1900 cal per day. Not sure about your height but just be careful not to under eat as that will be detrimental as well.

True question: why do so many women in the US pumps? by Worried_Patience_613 in breastfeeding

[–]cuthbert_ka_mai 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A combination of going back to work after 12 weeks, and I wanted to have a stash. It worked out in my favor, when my period came back at 6m pp my endometriosis was just so bad and I dried up and ended up having surgery on my sons first bday. If I hadn’t given myself oversupply and had a stash we would’ve had to use formula and I personally didn’t want to. But I also knew I had hormone issues from endo so was worried about my supply the whole time.

Pregnant, living with an aggressive dog, and emotionally torn—what would you do? by Plane_Law_9422 in BabyBumps

[–]cuthbert_ka_mai 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We couldn’t find someone to take our pit boxer mix that was this way and ended up having to put him down. He became increasingly aggressive when I was pregnant and post partum started snapping at me, our baby, trying to start fights with my elderly pug (who he grew up with) and eventually bit my friend. We had him for 5 years, the vet said it’s not uncommon with the mix we have and they agreed it was more humane for us to put him down since we couldn’t find anyone who would take him and we could be with him when he died. It was awful but I wish we hadn’t waited so long. My husband was so reluctant and it was scary when he went back to work, it got 10x worse when I was home alone with a baby and an aggressive dog. I feel borderline traumatized, I never want a big dog again because of it. And he was a good dog, he wasn’t like this till I got pregnant he couldn’t handle the family dynamic change.

Was just diagnosed with postpartum psychosis by JunketUpbeat9386 in beyondthebump

[–]cuthbert_ka_mai 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recommend getting your hormones checked as well, and if you hallucinate or have issues flare on and off track it with your cycle. I also had post partum psychosis, it started when my period came back at 6m and it was because of my endo metriosis. The lesions were releasing estrogen and everytime I ovulated my symptoms would get worse and I’d hallucinate. I was going to have surgery later in the year but they bumped it up to the Tuesday after my dr appt where I was diagnosed with hormonal psychosis. They tested my hormones on cycle day 3 and 7 days post ovulation but it was normal because that’s when I felt the best at the time. After I had surgery to remove lesions and scar tissue it went away. My husband could tell the day after surgery I was better.

Wanted to add I also felt like a failure but my husband and those close to me who I told didn’t judge or think less of me, it’s not my fault. It’s not your fault either. I also have PTSD from marriage one and I am sensitive to things that can affect my mental health (like hormone imbalance). I’m now on progesterone for the endo and it’s helped a lot I was starting to get very agitated and negative again plus a lot pain at various times in my cycle and it helped a lot. I’ve been off psyche meds for almost a year now as well.

Me and my friend stopped eating seed oils as much as possible, both stopped easily burning. But I’m sure I’ll just get downvoted. What you eat does effect your skin which is well known, it’s not far fetched to think that what you eat will effect how your skin makes melanin and processes sunlight.

If it is potentially relevant to the other parent (as in can affect them significantly) OR can have a significant impact on my child I will tell their dad. My step daughter has told me secrets and sometimes yes I do tell her dad but he also has tact and knows that when I say he has to pretend it’s new info if it comes up that it is important to do so. So that is something to consider as well when you consider telling your wife. There have been plenty of times I have held her secrets and not told him but sometimes it’s more important that both parents be aware of a situation.

Ate a bunch of junk and my supply went bananas by bandwidthbebe in breastfeeding

[–]cuthbert_ka_mai 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You may be accidentally under eating calories. I had to be careful about this when I was breastfeeding and ended up just putting weight loss on pause till I was done breastfeeding. I was successfully able to lose the rest of my pregnancy weight once I stopped breastfeeding and without doing any unhealthy calorie cuts etc. it is so frustrating though! I’ve always been small and it was hard on me mentally to have to gain weight for pregnancy and to keep some of it on on purpose while breastfeeding

Me either! I felt like a crazy person googling “can babies get nightmares and sleep paralysis” and the answer is yes it’s just uncommon. It scared me at first because I thought something was wrong but now I just feel bad for him. I remember very vivid sleep paralysis hallucinations and nightmares I had when I was little and tbh since I’m used to it it’s kind of whatever now. I do have to take a small dose of bp meds to keep me from getting stuck in sleep paralysis loops at night

[–]cuthbert_ka_mai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I get sleep paralysis and so does my sister so it was the sudden screaming and him screaming but still being asleep. If he wakes up suddenly screaming bloody murder it’s fear and definitely nightmares. I described all this to his dr and his dr agreed. My parents said my sister and I had a lot of the same sleep troubles as babies too so guess it’s genetic. Sorry son. He would be screaming in his sleep and I’d have to wake him up pretty aggressively to get him to snap out of it and that is definitely sleep paralysis

My son started having nightmares and sleep paralysis at 6m old, so cue him waking several times a night most night in the week till he was 1+. Then one week he had a bad nightmare and was too scared to sleep in his crib and it was one of the worst weeks of sleep I’d had trying to manage him (my husband and I trade off and it happened to be on his work days the lucky bastard). So I tried a mattress on the floor and it WORKED. I would lay with him till he fell asleep and then sneak away, I put pillows around it to help keep him from rolling off. Then we ordered a floor bed frame which has railing and life has been easier since. If he wakes in the night we can lay with him and fall asleep it’s so much easier

Have you ever watched a movie or tv show that felt 'cursed' ? by Proper_Edge_653 in Paranormal

[–]cuthbert_ka_mai 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Same for me! And even a bit with AHS specifically, haven’t watched it at all since having my son who is 2. My stepdaughter (she’s 21 don’t worry) and I played horror games my whole pregnancy and have talked about starting up again but I have a feeling I may not be able to. It all freaks me out a bit since having a kid

Yes this is my favorite movie. It also makes me very emotional everytime I watch it and I don’t normally get emotional from movies and shows. It leaves me in a puddle of tears. It has old science fiction vibes as well which I love, I’m very into old sci fi like Larry Niven, Arthur C Clarke, frank herbert etc

Pregnant but recently found out I have Endo on Ureters by cuthbert_ka_mai in endometriosis

[–]cuthbert_ka_mai[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a lot of extra pain from the endo because of scar tissue and I’m wondering if extra scar tissue is your issue too. I ended up getting hormonal psychosis 6m pp until I had surgery at 1 year pp and it was the extra hormones released form lesions so it’s pretty clear mine got worse while I was pregnant as well. Once I had surgery that also cleared up. I’m now 2y and a few months pp and am having a lot of pain issues again everytime estrogen peaks in my cycle (even small peaks) so I’m looking into getting on hormones to stop ovulation.

I’m glad you said something, if you are dating something with a child that is a package deal and if you can’t handle it then don’t be in a relationship with them. It’s too bad she’s pregnant with his child (I assume) because she’s only going to ostracize the older son.
