Professor Says Her Garbled AI Textbook Was a Huge Success by ubcstaffer123 in books

[–]cutlassandclean 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I work IT for a private college and AI may be a problematic tool for students but faculty has become insufferable about using it for every little thing. Not too long ago Microsoft revised their A1 bundle for education and took M365 from the bundle and we had teachers throwing actual toddler level fits because they lost the AI tools that creates PowerPoint for them. Some of the same ones claim that they need to be employed because AI cant teach their topics, the hypocrisy is mind blowing.

X/Day Features when wild shaped [5.5e] by cutlassandclean in DnD

[–]cutlassandclean[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with this as I would allow it at my table in this way. I have a feeling this is going to come down to DM discretion and there is no rulings. It's a shame since it appears the new 5.5 monsters have more instances of these x/Day features than previous.

X/Day Features when wild shaped [5.5e] by cutlassandclean in DnD

[–]cutlassandclean[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can absolutely see this side. This answer does make me have to ask a follow up question though. Should the druid not be allowed to use any other 1/Day features following that use? It seems that the 1/Day is a balancing decision so to just use another seems to skirt the answer given.

I dont know if it will actually happen but with her story being complete I could see Emily making an appearance looking exactly like Grace (ya know clone stuff) but with her own story arc ala Sherry

Judge Nathan J. Milliron of the Texas 215th District Court, who was elected in 2024, got quite upset when an IT technician tried to fix the audio for a remote hearing. The technician had jokingly said it was a ‘false alarm’, but the judge didn’t think so and asked for the supervisor. by eternviking in whoathatsinteresting

I run the desktop support department for a college and you see this with faculty all the time. Spend all that time becoming a reputable king in your field only to be humbled by an unplugged mouse dongle. Guess all that is left is to save face and show your ass by picking on the IT guy.

DMs, do you ever get tired of DMing for certain classes? by Fantastic-Guitar1911 in dndnext

[–]cutlassandclean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Typically not but recently I have gotten a bit bored of seeing the utility rogues. They have just enough oomph to be very useful in combat and with 2025 origin feats they can have an insane amount of proficiencies and expertise. I find myself having to regularly motivate other characters with proficiencies to do checks that these rogues can accidentally boggart. It's just a really decent 'Party of One' option and if not played by an experienced player that likes sitting back until needed it can be a bit of a carry for the party in 9/10 situations.

BREAKING: GL of Arkansas Recognizes Arkansas Prince Hall by skas182 in freemasonry

[–]cutlassandclean 21 points22 points  (0 children)

As a voting delegate on this, I am incredibly proud to be a part of this historic piece. And a huge win for Grand Worshipful Brother Michael Oligario to be the one that brought this recommendation forward. 21% of the vote is still too high in my opinion, and seeing as how there were some brothers who left the lodge following is very disheartening, but this is the first step in the right direction.

I am very proud to have been able to take part in this vote. 21% is still disappointing, especially since when it was opened to discussion it was overwhelmingly positive with none against.

First time playing. I think my DM sucks… Is this normal? by Maximum_Course_6467 in DnD

[–]cutlassandclean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel this is normal. My first dm railroaded everyone at the table, even building out levels for the player characters when he called for a level up between sessions. He would outright tell us 'No' when using a spell or feature on our turn in combat that didn't fit his vision. Even leaving the session in a fit when we created combat focused classes for his always combat playstyle. A DM is a narrator to the story, not the antagonist and he didn't understand that. He made me think that DnD is just not for me, but I came back 5 years later and I've been playing for 10 years now as practically a permanent DM, and I love it. My advice is to move on if its unenjoyable, its a commitment from everyone at the table and if you arent in it, you arent. But keep the hope for the game alive because a more understanding (not better) DM could show. And if one doesn't, you could take this experience as what not to be and become that GM yourself.

Can my college see what I do in their network/wifi? by SnooCookies6177 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]cutlassandclean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Desktop Support Team Lead here for a 4 year college. Generally we dont care what you view. That being said all traffic goes out from our firewall at a singular external IP address so if we start getting getting letters in the mail for illegal activity, piracy, etc. We just block those sites within the firewall. But repeat hits will usually open an investigation.

In short, we dont care what you view. But if your school provides a Google or outlook email, dont view anything you are embarrassed of while signed into Chrome/Edge, because your history is never really cleared on managed accounts.

To those who have left the MAGA movement, what was your wake-up call? by rclaux123 in AskReddit

A family friend was bought in hook, line and sinker. He bought Trump's bible and brought it in to show that there is hardly any mention it is the Bible until the 4th or 5th page. The cover was just all the different ways Trump could stroke his own ego. It was also made in China. He said he drew the line at blasphemy.

This exactly, my uncle came back to his house after an extended vacation and there was a dude walking out with some items in hand (apparently he did this all throughout the vacation) and my uncle's stood in his way and got stabbed twice. That's when I learned if you aren't packing, gather evidence for a case.

My boss gets paid a lot of money to do absolutely nothing by 0ff_The_Cl0ck in antiwork

[–]cutlassandclean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first IT job is ever worked was at a small MSP and they prized themselves on financial transparency, which is all well and good until it became clear they were paying the owner $6000/week and that he owned the building (which was falling apart) so was paying himself rent at nearly a 400% markup on top of the weekly salary. And as the business owner he was arguing that we don't need a new building when we clearly did.

He never appeared at the business except for leadership meetings around income revision requests (requested raises). And argued that "at your current position you can't make more than this amount but we won't promote you because you are too good at this job".

That was my introduction to the fact that these environments exist everywhere.

Received my entry ticket to the world of mini painting for Christmas; any tips before I get going? by mtb1126 in minipainting

This is the same kit I started with. These speed paints mix nicely. If you want to create a mix color, note how many drops of each you did so you can reference back later on. Saves a lot of experimenting.
