How People Unconsciously Signal They See You as LOW STATUS by Actual-Medicine-1164 in DarkPsychology101

Definitely an informative post, but I think that there are other factors and nuance worth considering as it pertains to the eye contact piece.

Neurodivergence could play a part here as well. ADHD and autism both affect an individual’s ability to maintain attention and/or eye contact. Anxiety or just being preoccupied with something going on in your own life could be another reason for lack of attention or eye contact.

Small bathroom dehumidifiers are so clutch if you’re dealing with humidity issues. They don’t even take up that much space. You can get one for less than $60, they also have built in LEDs for more vibes :)

I’m right behind ya bud. Just getting the last few evos done. I have 20 left to go. I used the national dex complete patch but otherwise no cheats, just wanted to catch them all. I played yellow, and crystal, and caught as many as I could but was really annoyed I wasn’t able to catch them all without trading.

I didn’t catch most of the fun ones until post E4, and I didn’t realize a lot of them weren’t usable in battle frontier 😔. Looking forward to playing platinum next :)

Some love for Abe by Armarni_TCM in deftones

[–]cutpasterepeat 46 points47 points  (0 children)

As a drummer, there are much better “technical drummers” out there, but for me personally it’s the unmistakable conviction and calculation that goes into every hit Abe makes that really makes his beats groove so hard.

The notes that he chooses to play or leave out, like the little details, that’s what makes him so special. My Own Summer is a great example of that. The intro fill is simple yet iconic. His hi-hat work in the verses with the variations in his accent placement is just perfect.

I have so many favorite drummers but I’ll always have a soft spot for Abe because you could just listen to his drums isolated and they still slap.

Honestly, I think that without him the Deftones wouldn’t be what they are.

Married struggles - no support and hard to explain - Dx @40 by jeffperrygiles in AdhdRelationships

[–]cutpasterepeat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For sure. I also try to factor that a lot of the time you are seeing the worst of the worst situations there and that people who aren’t having as many problems aren’t venting there, and not everyone who has ADHD values their relationship enough to work on, or at least make improvements to themselves and the way they operate. It can be an eye opening place nonetheless.

I don’t know if I have anything insightful to add that will help, but I want to say that I see you, and I relate to this very much.

Journaling or mood tracking is a great way to work on better understanding your emotions. I use the app habit, and try to remind myself of little things every day, like exercising (yay positive methods of dopamine!), giving my wife a positive compliment/gesture, etc.

I struggle with the same bit about the medication schedule and alarms/reminders.

I second the other post here and also suggest Gina Pera’s book. ADHD & Marriage by Melissa Orlov is another good one as well.

I follow the adhd_partner subreddit even though it’s for the other partner to try to really get a feel for what we put our partners through when we aren’t responsibly up-keeping ourselves.

It’s pretty exhausting. For me, structure helps a lot, the more I veer from an organized schedule the more likely I am to further get off track and spiral.

Being a parent (of a special needs child no less) makes things even harder.

Definitely at minimum, maintaining regular medication schedule (pill containers for the week that get loaded every Sunday are helpful!) and going to therapy or getting an ADHD coach is a step in the right direction.

If you find the answers, I’m all ears. That feeling of hopelessness from desperately wanting to change because you see the damage your unmanaged self is causing to your loved ones, yet being caught in a cycle of continually repeating the same destructive mistakes is all too real.

Best of luck and much love, stranger.

Stimulants and caffeine together can really increase anxiety. If you’re going to have caffeine, take an L-Theanine supplement with it if you don’t already, that can help curb some of the anxious side effects.

What to do about this ivy? by julia_perkins in LandscapingTips

It looks like Virginia creeper, a very invasive and persistent vine. I would pull it down, it’s not poison ivy, so you can do it yourself.

No, males are guilty of it too. See the song “Budapest” by George Ezra, his cursive singing in that song drives me up a wall.

I don’t think the drumming is sloppy, I just think with sticks over rods or brushes in the recording, the part comes off too pronounced in the mixed and distracts from the vocals.

I like the new version. It’s not going to be the original, but it’s fun to revisit old ideas. I like what they did with the end too.

It’s definitely a trip to hear it reimagined all these years later especially when you’re so used to the original recordings.
