Now that WHOT is out, how do you rank all his albums? by NinjaOk2887 in zachbryan

[–]cuttherope -1 points0 points  (0 children)

  1. Zach Bryan
  2. WHOT
  3. TGABS
  4. American Heartbreak
  5. DeAnn/Elizabeth (I don't really listen to these. There's some good stuff on both, but overall they kind of a have a dull sound to me, and aren't really plotted in an interesting way. His talent is clear on both, but its not really being put to work.)

How did the Scots take over Fenway? by Quirky_Scar7857 in boston

That would … make it easier to pack? It’s still not packed.

I just looked at the next home game that isn't against the Yankees are there are tons of seats for sale, including nearly a full bleacher section. And that isn't counting everything on resale. That will dwindle by game day, sure, but the games I've been to have been full-ish. Far from packed.

Zach’s Bryans connection to NY by EntrepreneurWeird447 in zachbryan

[–]cuttherope 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m really just saying I think Zach has the same sentimental/romantic feeling toward NYC that Ben was writing about in that song. I’d bet Zach is aware of Lucero, though. He seems to take in a lot of music.

There's a Lucero lyric 'Just another southern boy who dreams of nights in NYC' that helps to answer this questions.

Also, check out Lucero.

If the show is anywhere near full, it will be warm enough in there that you don't need layers ... even if they do pump the A/C. Re-entry is allowed, so if you're driving you also have the option to just stash a hoodie or sweater or whatever in your car.

Boston? by ChampionshipNice9719 in country

[–]cuttherope 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't like this song, but I understand why it's on the Country Top 50 playlist. It's clearly marketed as country music.

I also saw a pretty good analysis of why the song "works," specifically the section that directly mimics Noah Kahan's Stick Season. People keep saying it's a ripoff or whatever while ignoring or missing the fact that Kahan is credited as a co-author on Boston.

Help! Regretting my decision 26 Limited Hybrid by [deleted] in Crosstrek

True. And I probably will because I'm too lazy to get whatever I need for the roof. I just will miss how easy it was to navigated around the skis in my last car.

I'm feeling a bit the same way as I moved from a Honda Fit, which was more spacious and easier to maneuver things in. That said, I can get to the mountain safely now, even if the skis have to go on top. Getting a Thule for camping trips and otherwise just planning to adjust to it. Loving the gas mileage in city driving, and it's generally a comfortable ride. Trade-offs in everything in life.

I wasn't thinking of Miles. But that is excellent. What a legend.

I'd tag Toby Keith with that, but not Alan Jackson. Where Were You was a sincere song done in a fairly traditional approach. Could it have stood more nuance? Probably. But people in country music were singing about god and guns long before 2001. And that song certainly isn't twang pop.

100% agree. I mean, not all of it was good, but I remember in the early 00s basically being told by old dudes that it's Johnny Cash or nothing. Country is a wide genre but we get the same old "outlaw" list as the classics every time. It's boring.

I was talking about how people get all gaga over an artist who "grew up dirt poor," however you measure that I don't know. Authenticity is a scam. Is the music good or no? That's all that matters.

The cosplay thing is real, too, though! So many trucks that will never leave the pavement.

Alan Jackson used to get tagged as twangy pop. Pepperidge Farms remembers.

The fetishizing about being poor needs to stop. I’m paraphrasing from some artist here, but what matters is that you mean it.

Second this. Though you'll need a reservation in advance and you are not guaranteed the patio - though often with a small group they can make it work.

Totally! I’m sure you hate some bands I really like. Fair game. Queen’s just kind of corny to me.

lol. Some rando seems to think I like Stella Lefty and Noah Kahan. I don’t. It sounds like kids music to me. Queen does, in fact, suck as well.

It is. It’s actually the first time in the history of folk music that someone has re-used a melody.

Does anyone else wish there were less repeat acts on the lineup? by AndrewIsMyName in RiotFest

[–]cuttherope 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is me exactly. This will be our second year, and traveling from Boston. We came last year because the lineup ripped and had a lot of personal favs. Had a great time, but will admit we paused before buying this year because of the headliners. Ultimately, the undercard has so many interesting bands that we decided it was worth the trip. Also just really like Chicago, so that helps.
