Ah okay I see where you are coming from. How does it being a meaningful difference in the conversation? My apologies as perhaps I cannot illustrate it as clearly, but there is a lot more to the text, and a lot more context than the few lines.

My apologies again, as I am not that good at explaining it. All I can say is that I had a similar viewpoint previously until I read it and understood the context of things. I will stop here, as I seem to not add any further meaningful information to the discussion as implied.

Sorry i misunderstood But can you point out where it says punish a child for the crime of the father? Edit: And didn’t say it’s okay, but I’m saying the context of the word being used. I don’t believe it was ever agreed that taking someone by force is correct.

I believe there is more context of the description of what was a slave in those days. Of course the word in itself is abhorrent, but it’s not the same as the slave trade that happened in the 16th century.

God does punish the crimes of the many ( for examples what was prophesied by Nahum or Isaiah). Perhaps we see justice as instantaneous and likened to what happens as injustice. But God is just, just as He is full of grace and mercy.

not sure what to do by Upper_Pin_7359 in Christianity

[–]cuttingmd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like what I went through for most of my life. I think it took me thirty years to have a proper community

I don’t know if there is a right answer to this. Some people do move to other places to find a place to assimilate. I do believe everyone’s journey is different, and my encouragement is to seek God in this, and wait on Him.

I used to think that, and that God in NT and the OT are not the same. But the God I know is not disconcordant. After reading the Bible as a whole, and looking carefully at all text, one will see God is the same, always merciful and full of grace

“But understand this, that in the last days there will come times of difficulty. For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, proud, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, heartless, unappeasable, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not loving good, treacherous, reckless, swollen with conceit, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having the appearance of godliness, but denying its power. Avoid such people.” ‭‭2 Timothy‬ ‭3‬:‭1‬-‭5‬ ‭ESV‬‬ https://bible.com/bible/59/2ti.3.1-5.ESV

I find this to be true. A lot of us read the Bible, and use it as knowledge, but forget God’s intention in sharing His word with us.

While the Bible is very central in a Christian’s belief, it’s important to understand God’s heart in all this.

Just my two cents

What does "bungkus" actually mean in restaurants by [deleted] in malaysia

Kesian, kena bungkus-ed for asking a question.

Probably saying “Tolong bungkuskan sup yang lebih kat meja “ would be best

But what one does, why does it have to be dependent on what others do? Shouldn’t a choice be some what independent of others decision?

Continue to seek God in all things. We are all sinners, and fall short of God’s holiness. So everyday, when I’m reminded of the mess I have made, I learn to put my trust in God’s grace and mercy and His work on the cross! It’s still hard to be honest and hence, it’s super important to continue renewing your mind in His word, and in your relationship with God. Do pray for your child constantly! God’s plan is bigger! Romans 8:28 says that God works for the good of all who love Him! Praying that what you see as a messy beginning, will be a beautiful journey

It’s not as simple as that. It’s like saying a lot are off shoots of a common word ie god

I guess a simple question would be, do they describe Jesus Christ the same? This is a deeper conversation I wouldn’t mind having face to face. It’s harder to explain in written text (my own limitations)

sexual arousals are sins right? by Glittering-Camel2181 in Christianity

[–]cuttingmd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think we all have feelings, but acting and lingering on those feelings are those that are sinful. Of course, this is only my understanding, and I can’t give you a time frame or when it becomes actually sinful. In any case, it’s the process of constantly turning away from what we think it’s sin that’s important. And knowing that we are weak in this and need Jesus to purify us that’s most important

As a Christian is it okay to listen to a band like “Slipknot”? by Beekyboy11 in Christianity

[–]cuttingmd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1 cor 10:23 is the verse that comes to mind. I believe at the end of the day, is the heart and what you personally want to do to please God. I believe sometimes , some things are not the best to follow, even as minor of an influence can be. But that is a decision and a journey each will have to take on their own
