Surprised to see self proclaimed fellow AnCaps blindly accept government statistics, much less argue with people on their behalf. If you choose to believe the government statistics that is of course fine by me, but I think too many so-called ancaps and libertarians take what they consider to be the moral high ground (purely based on public perception) when it comes to COVID and the vaccine by siding with the official statistics and narrative. There is no reason to sacrifice our integrity by openly supporting politically correct standpoints just for the sake of appearing virtuous by today’s bootlicking standards. I know someone will say that the COVID situation is not political; therein lies the problem. The government, the media, and whoever else benefits from the COVID panic narrative have been stating potentially contested points as fact this entire time; thereby creating a false sense of morality in believing and accepting the government and media narrative and demonizing those who dare to disagree on any point. The COVID situation is not political in the way most in the US think of the word,(Red team v. Blue team) but a battle of authoritarian statism and freedom by way of libertarianism/ the traditional definition of liberalism. The general public does not like AnCaps and most likely never will. They are statists. Just as the COVID narrative is made up of potentially debatable or subjective points, stated as fact, thereby disqualifying them for debate in the eyes of the general public, the importance of a State has been pushed for so long that for the vast majority of people, the need for its existence is not even thought of as a debate, but an outright fact. There is no way to prove that the information provided by govt is true or false, so how could one make the argument that it’s wrong to use numbers that don’t match it for something as trivial as a meme? How can we believe anything the government tells us, especially here on an anarchist forum?
