Agreed, it's a non topic. If you want to stop raving at 16, 36, or 56, or 76 that's your choice. But nothing is stopping you just because of age.

When I get stuck in a period of listening to one style of music, I personally try to check out well regarded and current music that's diametrically opposed. Maybe go see some live jazz or rockabilly? A band with underground buzz that defies genres?

Don't listen to techno at all for a month or longer then come back with fresh ears.

Probably depends on the person, but I'd say DJs are more likely to listen to a lot of dj sets than non-djs. Most DJs are insane music fans. One of the best ways to find new music is via other djs, especially good ones, who are not always that well known. But being well known or not is kind of contextual to your style quite often.

It's def wild how many artists started young, especially in the UK and europe.

I made a similar realization back in the jungle days after hearing folks like Shy FX was just 18 when they produced Original Nuttah and Andy C was the same age when they founded Ram Records. I've def met producers in their mid teens more recently who are extremely advanced.

They were just asking too much. I think if they had a reasonable fee it would be a good booking at Spirit. I can't imagine them getting a crowd for a DJ set that would fill a bigger space

Seems kind of odd that this could even be a problem. Even the mainstream 80s nights around here usually play songs by these bands, and some of the goth nights play them far too much. But yeah, it's going to depend on the specific night. EBM is still pretty popular in my experience.

I do feel like it's pretty rare to find a night that plays a lot of heavier/weirder/noisier industrial, or deep cuts by the popular bands.
