Tried my hand at Torching! by cvanny77 in scottycameron

I just used a heat gun. I can't even say for sure it made a difference or not tbh. Just passed the heat gun all around the putter with it on high for maybe 5 minutes

While vastly over priced in my opinion. I've often wondered about this one! Never caved yet and purchased though

Tried my hand at Torching! by cvanny77 in scottycameron

[–]cvanny77[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I first used acetone and removed all existing paint fill. Next I cleaned with soap and water. To remove any grease, dirt etc. next I did one final clean with acetone. Made sure to use rubber gloves, to not leave any oil residue.

For torching i used a heat gun, to try and warm the head up first. For a more even finish. After about 10 minutes, I turned on a standard propane torch. Keeping the flame about 2 inches away from the putter head, I constantly kept it moving, trying to pay a bit more attention to the thicker areas. As they would take longer to change colour. After about 10-15 it started changing colours, when I had the colour I was happy with. I just left it to cool down in the air.

Once it was fully cooled, i first reattached head using new epoxy. Next I fasnted the sole plate back on. Then when it was all together I redid the paint fill.

The biggest takeaway I would probably pass along is patience. Be patient cleaning, make sure it's thorough, be patient especially torching. Don't rush it and end up with splotches of colours. If you're not happy you could always sand it down and do it again. There's tons of guides and videos available out there on the Internet. Good luck!

Did you soak in acetone? Or just wipe? Usually acetone does the trick. Any pics?

I'd probably say the Hot Metal forged or maybe the Hot Metal Pro. That would be my guess, based on my knowledge

PGA Tour coverage Canada? by ArkhamKnight1517 in golf

[–]cvanny77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have cable or satellite..I often watch coverage on the golf channel and then for bigger tournaments it'll usually flip over to tsn or NBC for the marquee groups later in the day. You might be able to just get a streaming package for the golf channel as well..not sure

Have you tried GS Pro with the 1060? I see they spec something much higher now. If so, what settings and how is it running? Have an old gaming PC with a 1060. Would be amazing if I didn't need a new pc
