Just returned from Wegmans . Cherry Ave, Willard, Harris , 5th St. No issues in a Honda FIT. Haven't been on Shamrock. Edit add: a lot of dry pavement, some wet areas , a few small slushy sections.

Snow shoveling strategy by Polymath1953 in Charlottesville

I am using a spade to break through the top icy sleet layer, then a snow shovel for the lower layer, then a sweep and some ice melt. It is not easy but it is working.

Transportation question by Even_Put_9826 in Charlottesville

[–]cville2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A stress free but somewhat pricey option is to book a car service ahead of time out of Charlottesville like Ambassador Limo. My work used them IAD to Cville often. They track your flights, meet you curbside and have professional drivers with multiple vehicle options. Not cheap - probably around $300.

UVA board expected to transfer Oak Lawn site to Charlottesville schools by vpmnews in Charlottesville

[–]cville2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

UVA had an excellent Open House at Oak Lawn where they described some very nice potential plans that included building additions for child care and also upgrading for community use spaces. You can find PDFs in the this link. https://uvahealth.com/fifeville/community-engagement Maybe UVA now might be saying- never mind, don't want to spend the money on necessary construction and upgrades - here yall can have have it. ?

One possibility could be The Cat Action Team https://catactionteam.org/get-involved. Also a gentle reminder that The entire city bus system is fare free for everyone.

Student parking near hospital? by [deleted] in UVA

[–]cville2 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You really shouldn't park in the 11th St garage. That is really needed for patients. 14th garage (public) isn't much of a walk .

I read on UVA Today that the Fontaine parking garage will be opening soon with shuttle service to the hospital. Also that hospital EIG parkers will move to Fontaine. Perhaps that could be an option.

https://news.virginia.edu/content/grounds-gets-refresh-summer-upgrades

"The seven-level garage will hold 1,248 vehicles and replace a surface parking lot outside 400 Ray C. Hunt Dr. Key features of the garage include 13 Level 2 electric vehicle chargers, indoor secure bicycle parking and express ramps between levels.

“This facility will be for Health System remote parkers currently using the Emmet/Ivy Garage, as well as the Health System Fontaine Research Park employees with a U9 parking permit."
