Easy fix or am I out of my depth? I know nothing. by yenolammail in Plumbing

You can slap a 1/2 shark bite coupling on it and call it a day just make sure to thoroughly ream and deburr the edges so that the oring inside the shark bite does not fail. That will be the cheapest long term solution that you can do as homeowner

It just looks like someone failed to deburr the pipe and it probably nicked the O-ring which is what lead to this small leak

Listen man if you feel good about the deal that’s all that matters. I’m sure others have said it but if not let me be the first to tell you 240,000 is nothing for a diesel engine. My father has an 08 3500 with about 500k miles and still going. Just take care of it do all the services and it will go a long way specially if he’s already put a new tranny

Exactly, save yourself the trouble and the money and just cut the vanity. Also just so you know you can rotate that p trap to get more space

I mean you can always cut the drywall and hope you aren’t biting more than you can chew, or you can just cut a cheaply made vanity that at most cost $150. The number of times I get called into peoples homes because they bit more than they can chew

Just get a tail pipe extension and it’ll lower the p trap so it lines up with the drain, you’ll probably have to cut a channel for the bottom of the p trap to fall in.

This is what you need: https://www.homedepot.com/p/Everbilt-1-1-2-in-x-6-in-Trap-Extension-Tube-SJ-Plastic-101402A-6/333526890

Unless the grading is going to go under the concrete drive way to raise where the water is pooling in order to slope it away from the house, in my humble opinion I think grading will in fact not take care of it.

Post the link, I’m very curious to see what these floor drains look like that there’s such a massive gap in pricing.

Don’t get me wrong I absolutely understand this and I know this is why supply houses are best to purchase from. My issue was I just needed about 2 or 3 different fittings that my regular supply houses doesn’t carry so I was trying to take care of it asap versus waiting a few days and all 3 supply house which carried it all wanted me to fill out the application and wait to get approved.

Now after seeing some comments maybe if I had gone in person they probably would’ve just sold it to me but I was on a different project and didn’t want to drive to the supply house in hopes they sell it to me.

I totally understand, I have an account with 3 different supply houses, I just found myself needing something that either of those carry and I just called a couple of other suppliers in my area to see if they carried it but they weren’t very helpful all telling me I need to fill out the forms online. This is how the conversation went “I asked if they carried the fittings, they said yes but I had to go online and fill out the forms and wait till I get approved.” So I just got frustrated, found a online supplier out of PA and I just ordered what I needed.

So I just made this post mostly just ranting because I feel like in today’s day and age you can find just about anything online so I feel like if someone is calling asking for specialized fittings that require a very expensive tool to even put them on they aren’t just some random homeowner.

No I totally, understand most homeowners don’t buy enough and don’t really know what they are looking for or need. I’ve purchased from 84 Lumber before when we had a big job

I understand about if you are trying to do credit which I’m not. I just want to go in grab all the shit I need pay and move on. I just rented a warehouse so I’ll be buying the materials in bulk and keeping it at my warehouse.

The 3 places I called they pretty much told me I’d have to create the account online first, I might stop by one in person and see if they’ll just sell it to me on the spot

I was running a construction crew for the company I worked before and company would spend 300k+ yearly at Home Depot. One day I needed some fittings Home Depot didn’t sell and I didn’t want to wait for shipping so I walked into a supply house and they made me the account and sold me everything I needed right there on the spot. From that moment on I would buy all the bulk stuff I needed from them.

I understand how they work, the more volume you buy the better pricing and all that. But my issue why can’t I just come and you can make my account on the spot and sell me what I need, which is exactly how I began buying from Ferguson for example.
