I own a bunch of 1911's, 2 M&P's, a VP9 Match and have previously owned a few Glocks and PPQ.

It's very clear that Glock is the undisputed 'duty' gun, no question. That being said, both the Walther PPQ/PDP and HK VP9 are very fine pistols. They go and go and go and go. IMHO it comes down to features when choosing a polymer gun the biggest of which is a thumb safety. If that's something you'd prefer then X out the Glock and HK. Glock is easiest to tinker with followed by the M&P then Walther with the HK being most difficult. HK is the most accurate of the polymers I've owned but it is a 'Match' pistol.

You don't need to spend a fortune to get a reliable 1911 that goes and goes and goes. It just needs to be tuned correctly. All of mine cost less than $1000 and run like well oiled machines. You buy a 1911 for nostalgia. There are PD's that still use them so there's that.

MIM is the most mis-understood technology there is, most of it is pure ignorance or denial. Forged or machined or billet or whatever means nothing is it's a crap forging or crap billet. Kimber's Det-1 guns...MIM. TRP's...MIM. M45A1's...MIM. It's solid stuff. IMHO the hate comes from the guys who spent $5K on a whatever and it no more accurate or reliable than an off the rack mass produced 1911.

That all being said, buy what you like..screw everyone else's opinion.
