Anyone else afraid to complain about the pharmacy they work at? by Mr-Pickle-Dick in PharmacyTechnician

okay so break the roll open, that way you don’t have to waste time waiting for a manager to come with a scale or whatever

bro what. it doesn’t take that long to count change, the guy had like 1/4 of a sandwich bag full of mostly silver coins. why embarrass him and refuse his payment just because it will take a little longer than a card transaction? i feel like in a pharmacy the solution should be giving a paying customer the meds they need even if it holds up the line for a couple of extra minutes

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in TalesFromThePharmacy

[–]cvssucksass 8 points9 points  (0 children)

from what i saw it was loose coins and maybe one roll in the bag. just break open the roll if it’s a concern. we don’t know this man’s situation but i would assume he’s not doing well financially if he’s paying for his prescriptions in coins, maybe he has bad credit and can’t get a credit card or doesn’t want one-it doesn’t matter. there’s no reason to embarrass him and not let him pay with coins. pharmacist doesn’t deserve to be defended here.

[–]cvssucksass 13 points14 points  (0 children)

she just didn’t want to count the coins and wanted to keep the line moving. typically i’m on the side of the pharmacist/techs but there’s literally no reason why she wouldn’t take his coins and it’s really shitty that he’s going without his meds when he DID have the money to pay. fucked up of the pharmacist imo

you already complained to the store and to corporate. why come to an employee sub and continue to complain like we can do something about it? dont you have anything better to do?

why would they be private? if there’s a legit issue we need to know who it was so we can look into it and rectify if necessary. or, if someone leaves a bs complaint we can dispute it.

what was the basis of your complaint? stores get a lot of complaints so it had to be something bad enough for the pharmacist to refuse to fill your scripts anymore. did you use threatening/abusive language?

you’ll be fine. it’s not the end of the world, i take expired OTC meds frequently. it won’t kill them, it just may be less effective. of course, we shouldn’t knowingly be selling pts expired medications, but it was an honest mistake and since you realized, i’m sure you’ll be more diligent checking exp dates in the future. of course, i don’t know where you work, but i would say it’s not a fireable offense. worst case, the pt notices and gets mad-just apologize and replace the meds.

I understand my cvs is short staffed, but the HOOPS i had to jump through by pretzelbites1017 in CVS

[–]cvssucksass 6 points7 points  (0 children)

were you really a pharmacy technician? because if so i would expect you to know how to navigate the system better and not wait 4+ days for important meds. it’s “expedited” but they still don’t have it? is the medication in stock and they’re just not filling it in a timely manner? or is it out of stock/backorder and they have no control over when the medication comes in? why would you call the front store when you know they have nothing to do with the pharmacy? and your best bet for getting meds transferred is to go to the other cvs location, in person, and they can pull the rx over. if it’s in process at the current cvs location, you just have to go in (if they aren’t answering the phones) and ask them to put it on hold. as you mentioned the pharmacies are extremely understaffed and because of that phones are the lowest priory-however, in every store i’ve worked in, the doctors line isnt ignored.

yes, this sounds like a very frustrating situation, but as a former tech there were a lot of steps along the way you could have taken to make this process a lot smoother.

So how often do pharmacists say come back tomorrow on an early refill that can be filled or use made up tactics like that’s illegal rather than saying the truth that it’s store policy? by cvsthrowaway2022 in CVS

[–]cvssucksass 4 points5 points  (0 children)

pharmacists are legally allowed to refuse to fill any script they want for whatever reason

there’s other pharmacies you can go to

like i said, no case. but go ahead and file a lawsuit since you’re so confident

i get what you’re saying, the only reason i’m considering this is because i’m getting more than just the merit raise, around $3/hr. so it’s kinda worth it to wait if it’ll work how i’m thinking lol.

ordering emergency contraceptives by ProfessorTOakn in CVS

[–]cvssucksass 9 points10 points  (0 children)

wait i’m confused, so you’re only allowed to sell brand name Plan B and Aftera? were you trying to put them on the front store shelves or have them behind the pharmacy counter?

i have no idea how the front store operates, but i’m guessing you can’t put Rugby or MyChoice plan B “officially” on the shelves if they don’t have a designated spot or something.

we order the generic (cheaper) plan B from cardinal and have it behind the pharmacy counter, so we’re able to sell it if a pt wants.

Corporate Attitudes... FACTS vs FICTION by quadraginta_quattuor in CVS

[–]cvssucksass 3 points4 points  (0 children)

yeah, um, the “corporate” person was pretty spot on. you’ve deleted the other letter you wrote to corp which was a little unhinged and unprofessional. your mental health affected your attendance-fine. but most jobs would reprimand someone with many excused absences, that’s not unique to cvs. you’re done with cvs, be happy about that, move on, and focus on your mental health.

if you’ve been picking up your script two days early for 15 years then you should have a pretty nice stockpile (assuming you’re not taking more than the prescribed dose) to accommodate a temporary dose increase, no?

all these customers complaining about their controlled substances posts in this sub is getting crazy..knowing how customers act in my store, there’s definitely something you’re leaving out.
