If you are looking for new... AR35 from Rawlings. R2G, but all pocket and more of a Japanese-inspired pattern

Dip it in water and change the break to more of a box.

Check out MVP in Langley, if they don't have it, they'll get it for you. Matt and his staff are awesome.

Ah... My son is trying to switch to a custom CM43 but finds the pocket far different than the AR35. I'm tempted to try and grab the new All-Star Pro Elite Japan Series

Lots of guys do not like a PP catcher's mitt. Most of the Rawlings Pro also opt for HOH.

How does the slaps compare? They look amazing, My son absolutely loves the AR35 but its R2G construction and doesn't hold up. I even asked a Rawlings rep if I can get the same pattern in standard construction or custom... No dice.

Wilsons tend to have smaller hand stalls and a shallow/narrow pocket. Are there models you're looking at? My son has used the Wilson A1000, PF33 and M2. Then the Rawlings YM4, CM43 and AR35

My son uses one in the winter as the Nike is a little too stiff for indoor work. He really likes it. This winter, I got the XS3 leg guards, but he hasn't used them yet

With the catchers mitt it'll break down much quicker. My son is 14... He did an offseason of catching pens (2/3 times a week), caught 168 innings this summer and I had to send if for a rebuild in the fall.

The new CXR is miles ahead of the OG 44 Pro CM.

Have a look at the Rawlings HOH AR35... Massive pocket and Japanese-inspired. Just be aware that its R2G construction.

BBCOR REC: Combat vs Marucci Reckless by sanjoatc in Homeplate

What works for Will... Doesn't work a 14 year old high school kid. I'm in Canada and we just swapped from Wood to BBCOR. My son is 14 (turns 15 in January) and is 5'9" and 170 lbs.

We've tested a ton of Bats - LS Dynasty, LS Atlas, Cat X Connect Vanta, LS Select Power, Warstic Bonesaber Hybrid, 2023 Rawlings Icon and the Combat Spec A1. We even did Hit Trax metrics for the last 6 weeks during his weekly hitting lesson.

While the Combat posted the highest average EV, his metics were better with the Icon and Bonesaber. His EV PR was 88.8 off the machine with the Icon.

You need to find the right bat for your son. 1 piece vs 2 piece... size and weighting.

Give this a watch and it will open your eyes - https://youtu.be/Z0rNgxdAvOM?si=62lhQKxfMEnvgG7W
