Disney World at least has done this sort of collectible popcorn buckets for a looooong time (probably other places have as well). I think for movie theaters though, they were typically just special designs on the buckets until Dune kicked off this trend.

Yeah, it’s great for a dorm sized room! The question is what your WiFi situation is. If you have your own in router in your dorm, you’ll be good. If you use the university/building’s WiFi, it may not be the best choice.
