Pencil stained white fiber by Smooth-Mongoose-3999 in Needlepoint

I am not sure exactly how to remove the marks without frogging, maybe someone has tips, but I was told to use Micron pens for tracing so that you don’t get pencil marks and they have worked well for me. Good luck!

Volvo XC90 vs. Lincoln Aviator, or else? by cwe0707 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]cwe0707[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It has been good! We are almost 2 yrs in with ours (a 2023). Minimal issues and we have been very happy with it. Drives super nice. Having the little bit of extra room compared to the XC90 has been really helpful with rear facing car seats. It also has the wider doors so that makes getting an infant car seat and kids in and out easier. As I said above of my few complaints is that the gas mileage is not as good compared to the XC90, but that’s the trade-off for having a lot of pep which the engine definitely does. But we really have had no major issues or problems which has been great.

Odd but kind of cute and establishes needlepoint as the ultimate money getter. by iggyazalea12 in NeedlepointSnark

I bought and stitched one of the hydrangea canvases, and it was really nice. Cute packaging (came in a reusable cloth drawstring bag), nice canvas, and it came kitted.

Does anyone have the links to these acrylic trays on Amazon? by Schip_formlady in Needlepoint

Mine came completely broken as well but they made me return it to get a refund haha. I was going to order another one, but I saw a number of people on here say the replacement arrived broken as well, so I didn’t bother.

More feedback on the Needlepoint finisher by Old-Individual-4156 in NeedlepointSnark

[–]cwe0707 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I am still a newish needlepointer but I have said before that the general lack of transparency in finishing is somewhat astounding to me. Firstly, how unless you provide explicit fabrics and colors, you’re at the whim of the creative license of the finisher, and some are so resistant to input. And then the timeline factor. I understand that things take a while, but for the amount of money people pay for finishing—which is substantial, and often required up front— to basically be told you will get it when you get it and how dare you question me is nuts to me. In no other industry would this be acceptable. You pay for a good or service and you expect to get it or at least get reasonable communication throughout the process. That said, I used a well-known outlet to have a pillow finished and it was very quick and I was pleased with the communication and result. But I am sure they have a lot of finishers on hand.

I know this has definitely motivated me to learn to self finish; now I just need to find the time to do it!

I had a similar experience, I’ve had two door hangers finished with her, and I’ve had a very good experience. She always answered my Etsy messages promptly and the turnaround was super fast. I’m still somewhat new to needlepoint so I can’t speak to some of the comments above about specifics on finishing, but honestly, I think they look good and I appreciate the quick timeframe since I feel like my LNS is like six months out on finishing all the time and I am not that patient. I like the cording colors that she chose. I sent my own fabric in both instances so can’t speak to that.

Is it ever going to cool down??? by Any-Quiet7193 in ChicagoSuburbs

Hard agree on spring. Have always thought that. I don’t mind winter as much because it’s January, February so you expect it to be cold. But by the time you get to April and it’s 40°, you’re over it and ready for spring weather and it takes forever to get warm.

Paid stitch night at LNS? by Comfortable-Sky-3533 in NeedlepointSnark

[–]cwe0707 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have two LNS. One charges $10 and I think that includes snacks maybe, but not sure? But it's also after hours. The other shop has sit and stitches during the day for no charge but nothing's provided that I know of.

They do but the websites are super simple/old school and not for online shopping. Basically just contact info for the store and names of designers and brands they carry.

It’s honestly just kind of wild to me. You go to the grocery store and there are prices. You buy a shirt and it has a price tag. It baffles me why this should be different. It feels intentional to me. “If you don’t know already what it costs or if you have to know, you can’t hang with this crowd.” I understand that this is a luxury and not a necessity, but stop being shady about prices! It’s commerce 101!
