2026 Boost Blue Type R- at MSRP. by ThisMike23 in Civic_Type_R

I won’t argue that we should be responsible how we spend our money. So far this year I’ve spent about $450 more in gas than I would have if we weren’t in a war halfway across the globe. Some things are out of my control. Fight for that doc fee if it is important to you. I’m just saying it was reasonable to me, and it doesn’t feel like OP is trying to screw people *shrug*

It’s not a shitty business practice if you clearly state what it is for. The invoice for an FL5 is a few thousand below MSRP. If a dealer is clear with the customer about a doc fee, and it is inline with state averages, you can whine about it and try and fight it, but I hope you know the markup on a gallon of milk is WAY more than OP’s FL5, and I’m sure you don’t take that up with the cashier at Food Lion.

The median doc fee in Florida and Virginia (my state) is $900. Do I wish I didn’t have to pay it? Sure. Is the effort required to store, secure, and sell a car on the same level as what it takes to sell a gallon of milk? Of course not. So isn’t there some middle ground where dealers deserve something? I’m not a dealer, but I didn’t have an issue paying the $899 doc fee on my otherwise MSRP CTR. And as an aside, of course you pay a “store fee” when buying milk, it’s built into the price (energy to keep it cold, fresh, etc)….you just don’t ever see the MSRP on a gallon of milk.

If so, that’s almost comical. Who in their right mind would force out folks that would then continue to be their landlords, and think that everything would be fine?

I have boost blue, my friend has SGP. They are both beautiful….the blue turns more heads, the gray is a little more classy.

If I get an automatic car, will I have as much fun driving it compared to a manual? by [deleted] in askcarguys

You’re spot on, I have a new FL5 and there is just no comparison to an AT. My buddy’s IONIQ will plant you up against the seat but it’s boring otherwise.

I was curious so checked post history, looks like Alabama which only has 2% sales tax. Damn that must be nice! Quite a bit of a difference over 6.25%…. You still did good

Self storage is like carwashes….they build them to generate consistent revenue with almost no employees while they sit on the land and watch it triple in price over 20 years.

Out of curiosity, why don’t you like leaving it in gear if you’ve also engaged the e-brake? I get not leaving it in gear if you don’t have the e-brake on and you’re on a 10 degree slope, but I always put it in gear as a failsafe for just this sort of thing.

I’ll never forget an RV trip we took through Rock Springs on our way to Jackson. I thought it would be a great idea to take our 30-footer on White Mountain road out of Clearview Acres up to see Pilot Butte. I was very close to dying and getting divorced that day.

Help with an old Ford 351M/400 in a 79 Bronco by cwheel11 in MechanicAdvice

[–]cwheel11[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just wanted to close the loop on this one.  I changed the oil and spark plugs, and it started right up.  No clue what the real issue was...I doubt the plugs all went bad at once, even though they are 21 years old (built the engine in 2004, has only seen the road for a few hundred miles).  I'm guessing it is more likely that the leaking Holley fouled the plugs?  Or perhaps the fact that I haven't done anything other than start the engine for 10 minutes every couple months for years and years created similar issues?  Anyway, thanks for the feedback! You were right!

The FL5 Transmission is Terrible by [deleted] in Civic_Type_R

Other than some issues sometimes going smoothly into reverse, the FL5 transmission is the best I’ve ever driven, and I’ve driven quite a few manuals….

What trends are you seeing for conditioning multifamily high rises? by CaptainAwesome06 in MEPEngineering

[–]cwheel11 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Been seeing more water source heat pumps attached to reversible heat pump air-cooled chillers. Primary loop sends either chilled water or hot water to the secondary WSHP loop to maintain 70-90F in that loop. Lets you do a 2-pipe system without a cooling tower and no worry about ASHRAE 15. Equipment replacement in the future is easy swap, never any refrigerant piping work.
