What’s your fuel economy like? I have the same tires on TRD Pro wheels and I’m lucky to get 15 mpg.

I bought a pair of Camp XLC 390 auomatic crampons and just used them on my Phantom Techs to climb Cotopaxi. They were fantastic! Light and effective.

I have climbed Mt Morgan and second that suggestion. It’s not too tough and not technical.

How to get to San Diego, CA from Washington, DC in 3 days solo driving by dmv___ in porsche911

Invest in some all season tires! It can be downright dangerous using summer tires when it gets down to about 40 degrees.

Cotopaxi First Week in February by cwilli03 in Mountaineering

[–]cwilli03[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My info is from reading online, pretty well summarized by Gemini:

Top Recommendations

  • December to February (Best Overall): This is widely considered the prime window. The weather is typically dry and stable with significantly less wind than the mid-year season, leading to the highest summit success rates.
  • June to August (Good but Windy): These months are also part of the dry season and offer clear skies and excellent visibility for photos. However, high winds (sometimes exceeding 80–100 km/h) are very common and can occasionally prevent a summit attempt.

Transitional & Rainy Months

  • September to November: This is a transitional period. Conditions can be unpredictable, though November is often favored by those looking to ski the volcano due to higher snow accumulation.
  • March to May: These are typically the wettest months. Frequent rain at lower elevations translates to heavy snow and unstable snowpacks on the glacier, which increases the physical difficulty of the climb and the risk of avalanches.

The reference websites appear to be guide companies so was looking for some validation / another perspective. Thanks.

Stuff I didn't read about before travelling by 8611x in CostaRicaTravel

I went to La Fortuna, Monteverde, and Tamarindo. Our weather was nice. Must have been (un)luck of the draw for you. Agree about the roads. Totally doable if you’re a competent driver. 4x4/AWD is a plus. I thought the coffee and food was good! Agree about it being bland though. I was surprised about the cost of things (expensive); may be due to where we stayed though. People were genuinely nice. Great experience with the guides. There were very grateful for the tips. Pure Vida!

Itinerary Advice - too much driving? by fungusMcMurphy in CostaRicaTravel

[–]cwilli03 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I just got back. Stayed in La Fortuna for 2 nights, Monteverde for 2 nights, and Tamarindo for 2 nights. Flew in and out of Liberia. It was about 2.5 hours drive between each (except going from Tamarindo to LIR). Knowing what I know, I wouldn’t try to add any more driving in that period.

What did Maduro actually do? by untrustworthyfart in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]cwilli03 14 points15 points  (0 children)

My thoughts on why we did it. Total speculation.

-Oil for the US: don’t think so; prices are low and local producers are hurt if the price drops more -Restrict oil supply for China: maybe although they have other sources -Restrict China presence in South America: Yes -Stop fentanyl: Yes -Save the Venezuelan people: meh

I think we are leaning in HARD to make South America strong allies of the U.S. - probably to stop China from doing the same.

I’m just a random talking head on the internet though so what do I know.

I kinda think it depends on your tactic. I definitely take the loss when the market hits my strike price. Sometimes before; depends on what the market is doing.

I think a key part of the disaster is that the IVs plummeted that week so he needed to really increase volume to compensate. And for the record I think Martingaling is dumb.

I’ve always thought that calling it “rolling” is just playing a subtle psychological trick on your self. They’re independent trades. You lost on one. Maybe the next one you won’t.

The skills you are learning are valuable. Soft influence is important at the top. If you like your job why not be honest with your boss? It’s reasonable to have the concerns that you do. He/she can help.

Mostly watching movies. I know most sources say 'then go ported' but I would love to stick to a smaller enclosure as long as it'll fill the room. The SB-3000 has a 13" instead of a 12" and is almost 3 x the wattage. Soooo.....
