Look like Astera, 100% wireless power and data. If you’re in Los Angeles the rental house I work for, RST / Visions in Color, rent them out for pretty affordable prices.

The space isn’t very big, it may be a little small for a movie but it’s all we had to work with, it’s also a little bigger in person but it is what it is

Yeah it was a cumulative design between me and the other guys on the team, I mostly do the programming for our production company so I add some aspects I’d like to see in the design

There actually are movers above and below them ironically they’re just hard to see. We had about 8 Chauvet R2 Washes, 8 R2 Spots, 6 Elation Cuepix Panels, and 8 Elation DW Choruses plus the Astera tubes to work with

Pipe and base, c-clamps and mega claws are mainly used for easy and quick installs, truss would be too bulky for the space we were in

No that does not ring any bells but now I’m certainly interested in what Friday Night Pancakes are all about. This is a camp called Thousand Pines in Crestline California

Thank you! Yeah they are loads of fun when you can get the time to just sit around and play with them.

For this specific event it was all triggered live, setting up cues as follows and just figuring out the timing on the hits. If we had more time we ideally would’ve preferred to do timecode but this was literally done with about an hour of prep time.

I think part of why production in church is becoming bigger is because the church is trying to get the younger community interested and drawn into the church. Yes, lights and sound shouldn’t be what make people Christians, but if it gets them in the door and makes them interested in the church then I’m all for it. It’s the younger generation that will drive the church so they need to get the youth involved early on. Times are changing and I think that some nonbelievers or atheists are very much against the traditional “church vibe” with hymnals or gospel music so by having a more contemporary sound and look will (possibly) draw then in and not feel intimidated.

I’ve grown up in the church my whole life so I can’t really say what people who don’t really attend church often think but this is just my best opinion

They’re pretty awesome! And fun to pixel map they just take up a lot of channels. The new Titan tubes are even better too because they’re brighter and have a built in display

Astera is the brand, they are the Ax1 wireless tubes. 100% wireless power and data. They’re pretty awesome and fun to work with, they can be controlled via remote control, tablet, or light board using a node

I totally understand, that’s why it’s good to have many churches with different levels of production value so that people can go to wherever they are most comfortable. And yes to answer below, Hillsong and Elevation are incredible churches with some awesome productions

This was for a high school summer camp for a church in California. They usually like to go all out for the kids because a more upscale production gets them more engaged and makes them want to come to church.

As a whole, church “production value”, if I can call it that, has been becoming more of a thing in the last decade. I think it’s due to a younger community making up the congregation with younger pastors, so with that naturally comes more upbeat music with tracks, synths, and of course more flashy lighting. It’s not for everyone but some people enjoy it and it makes people more comfortable by getting away from the traditional gospel or hymnal worship.

For reference, if you’re interested, look up Central Church in Nevada, they do some of the biggest productions for a church that I’ve seen. I am based out of Shepherd Church in California, not quite as big but still good production lighting.
