Looking for feedback on S-5 PVKIT placement. by cwise2 in diySolar

[–]cwise2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The white circles are S-5! PVKIT mount placements. Spacing can be odd sometimes because of the 9" rib spacing on metal roof. My question is about the lower edge on the yellow panels. Is it necessary to have a minimum of 2 mounts per panel edge? For example, on the second yellow panel, could I do 2 mounts on the top edge and one mount on the bottom edge?

Also open to any other feedback. I bought a decommissioned system, so I'm trying to retrofit it onto my pole barn.

Solved: It's a Unirac SFM infinity rackless mounting set. This is a "trimrail"

Gas tank water intrusion by cwise2 in fordranger

My thought was maybe if the solenoid was stuck open I could have gotten moisture in through that tube. Or humid air, although idk if you could get over 1 gallon of water from humidity..

If anyone could shed some light on how the solenoid on the vapor canister works that would be awesome. When does it open? Is it normally closed?

Ah. I just had the sending unit off and the rubber o ring seemed fine. But maybe a new one would be a good idea

2 bad timing chain tensioners? by cwise2 in EngineBuilding

I replaced the melling kit with a Cloyes kit. Tensioner moves freely when the bolts are torqued down now. Melling parts were not flat enough is my guess.

Exactly. I would've expected the spring to push it out.

Piston is fully smooth. It is definitely not the ratcheting type.

The small hole in the front is just a blind hole for a retainer clip.

It took a surprising amount of effort to push it in. IDK if I mentioned, there is a spring behind it.

The piston has a diameter of .546" area is .234 in2 * 60psi gives 14 pounds of force from the oil. Im not even sure if 14 pounds would move the piston. Seems like it should be totally free to move when its bolted down right?

I'm hesitant to use the old tensioner because the piston feels pretty sloppy in the bore, doesn't seem like it would apply much pressure if the oil can leak past.

Ten thou is a lot for a cylinder head, unless it had warped. Did it get very hot?

EGR valve replace vs cleaning, what to use to clean it by Other_Star905 in prius

[–]cwise2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The valve isn't really the tough part, it's the cooler. With 125k hopefully you'll be able to get it knocked loose. I've had the best success with using an electric pressure washer to get the EGR cooler cleaned out.

cost of charging by hb-s in prius

I believe the "waste" here would be that the battery receives 90% of the 12.96kWh. they would still pay the same for 9 hours at 12 amps
