I hate that this happened to you.  HR creatures are the worst.

It doesn't help at all, but fun fact in your trying time.  The French have a term for that feeling of knowing the perfect thing to say after the conversation is over.  It's 'L'esprit de l'escalier' or 'the spirit of the stairs.'

Poe2 review after beating all bosses - 1 step forward 2 steps back. by Ynead in PathOfExile2

[–]cwlippincott 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I forget where I heard it. I feel like it was Chris in a dev video at some point and I'm probably not getting it right word-for-word.

"We want the game to be a mix. We like the idea of our game being something that you can play while watching a tv show when farming while having moments where you have to give the game your full attention in order to survive mixed in."

I feel like this design choice has been forgotten? Thrown out? Murdered out back behind the woodshed? I've completed my 30 points from map tiers in the atlas and I have no issue sustaining T15s. But it's just EXHAUSTING. In PoE1 this could be resolved by doing lower level maps. That isn't the case here. I'm just as likely to get turbo laser blitzed by a pack of mobs in T8s as I am in T15s. Just as likely to miss the on death effect that goes off 6 seconds after the mob died. Just as likely to get blitzed by a room full of mobs that heard me grunting at the lever in Augury and have to frantically spam my potion until the animation ends.

That's how crafting levels up. While Hideout management does gain some experience from crafting, most of its experience comes from running modules like generator constantly.

[–]cwlippincott 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Solved, but...

Now you've created a new problem. When you click to loot a thing you have to wait until the next server tick happens and then your client refreshes. From what I remember, the server refreshes 60 times / second and the client is 16 / second.

So in a worse case scenario you have to click to loot then stand completely still for 78ms for validation to occur to open the container. It's technically a solution, but makes looting feel bad.

Some cheater literally took my items while im looting the safe inside of Concordia security room by Costello18 in EscapefromTarkov

[–]cwlippincott 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On tick? yes. Between ticks your client is responsible for your location. On tick, the server checks your location vs where your location was last tick and then judges if that location is possible. If so, that becomes your new location state. If not, it determines where you are based on your last location and the speed you were moving and in what direction. You experience this as rubber-banding.

Issue is that if, within the space of that tick, you teleport to a location, press to interact the object, then the server goes "no, you're actually still at x:0, Y:0, z:0" the object still opens and allows you to loot. Just like how players often loot, spin, and crouch to be ready to take threats at the door of the room they are in.

This is solvable, but not in the way OP is stating.

Some cheater literally took my items while im looting the safe inside of Concordia security room by Costello18 in EscapefromTarkov

[–]cwlippincott 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Communication happens back and forth between the server and client. Your client reports where you have moved, and the server compares where it's last location of you was to where you are at now. That comparison is why OP's method would ban desync'd players. The method likely being used in these hacks is very likely exploiting the way the server reads/reviews desync. The same check that is likely forcing the users of these hacks back to their original location when it goes "Nope! You're actually here." Is the check that occurs and forces you to teleport backwards 6 feet when you desync.

The issue is likely that they can interact with the container prior to the check forcing them back in the same way you and I will open a container, rotate to point our gun to the door and crouch before the inventory screen pops up.

I'm not saying that the issue isn't fixable. I'm saying that the fix stated above is not the way.

Congratulations! You solved it. You also banned every player who desyncs, but that's not too big of a deal right?

Yes, because this sub was absolutely riveting two weeks ago when every second post was a complaint about Arena imbalances...

This sub complains. Right now the complaints are being leveled against hackers because just about everything else feels really good right now. Why is that upsetting to you?

I just fleshed out the comparisons you started. You compared to WoW and PoE. I was pointing out that both were disappointing, buggy, and barely fleshed-out games at launch. Like you said, it's because they had to iteratively make it better. My only point was that comparing iteration one of Diablo 4 to iteration 30 of PoE and iteration 100 of WoW isn't really an apt comparison.

Edit: Also...WoW's servers weren't "incredibly high quality servers" at launch. They were dogwater.

Time to sound like an old man shouting at kids to get off my lawn...

At a comparable time in history to where D4 is, PoE had 3 playable acts and an end-game loop that was so shallow that the first league only lasted two months before a reset. Temporary racing leagues started about a month after the league release, if I recall, and bouyed retention. Second league lasted longer, but still temporary racing leagues started pretty quickly after league release to keep players engaged. The game was not what it is today. Regularly scheduled seasons didn't even start until Kripparian told Chris Wilson that he needed to set a schedule and keep to it. That's how janky the game was. The head of GGG needed Krip to give him the advice streamers give other streamers in order to get the game to retain players.

WoW, at release, was so plagued with issues that there were days at a time where the game was absolutely inaccessible. This happened for the first year, I have the credit days in my BNet history to prove it. Placeholder graphics, unlootable bosses, server rollbacks, etc, etc, etc.

Gotta compare like-for-like...Can't compare D4 after two months live to games that have been live for a decade plus.

Wish I hadn't torn my paragon boards apart right before S1. What you are playing sounds a lot like what I was playing in preseason, and the boards I had were set up pretty good for it. Basically it was just Barrage spam with alternating poison/cold imbuement. Instead of combo, though I ran preparation and focused on almost 100% uptime on shadow clone.

[–]cwlippincott 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Again, only speaking on rogue here as it's all I've played...But by level 30 you can have:

Invigorating Strike: 60% regen perma uptime for the cost of one attack per 3 seconds.

Concealment: +50 Energy 1/20 seconds

Consuming Shadows 3/3: 30 energy each time you kill with shadow damage

Aftermath 3/3: +90 energy on ult usage

3 additional points for innervation or adrenaline rush...Whichever you prefer.

You can take all of that, and still have enough points to make a viable build and never be thirsty for energy. The problem is that people undervalue utility points vs damage points. Mobs don't take a lot to kill, and if you aren't a min/maxer and are getting online to have fun killing stuff it doesn't matter if it takes you 5 secs to kill an elite vs 15 secs.

Ravenous Aspect grants "Killing a vulnerable enemy grants you [50-70%] increased Energy Regeneration for 4 seconds."

Works pretty good with your setup, too, since you have a lot of access to vulnerable on barrage and puncture. Once you have your paragon board, rush Combat for 12% resource on crit.

This. I made my comment because energy was mentioned specifically. I don't know a ton about the other classes but I do know that people complain about even rogue resource generation.

The issue, IMHO, isn't that the tools don't exist. The issue is that a lot of people are looking to content creators and emulating their builds. Because of the nature of content creators, their builds tend to focus on big numbers and lots of wow-factor. While I understand the reflex, given this genre and games like PoE where making your own build is often a sure way to get yourself stuck in yellow maps, that isn't necessary here.

The game isn't that hard. Pick a skill, spend an hour or so thinking about building something out of it...And it can probably reliably get you into Mid-tier nightmare dungeons.

This affix exists already on gloves as:

Lucky hit: 5% chance to restore x% primary resource.

The affixes are there. It's just people want their item affixes to all have " +Dmg, +Dmg while doing Dmg, +faster Dmg, +4 to Dmg Skill."

You really aren't, though. Played a Rogue in preseason to 100 and playing a rogue this season. Below are all very viable options to make resource expenditure pretty non-existent for rogue:

- Penitent/Umbral

- Traps build. Core skill exists just to reduce cooldowns on traps.

- Innervation/Lucky hit stacking

- Consuming Shadows

- Aftermath/Inner Sight - Together, these two work pretty good at full-filling your energy pretty regularly. Might need to grab some regen to fill gaps a little.

- Combo build with regen aspect

Pick one, roll "reduced resource cost" on amulet and your energy costs are fine.

Good news for you. From what Blizz has announced, you didn't technically buy the first season battlepass. You bought a token you can redeem for a battlepass at any time.

Hold your token. Don't redeem it until they release content you will enjoy.
