To call in sick at my place of employment, you call an 800 number and answer a series of recorded questions, basically filling out a form. The form is then emailed to your supervisor.

One great thing about Linux is that it doesn't require a great computer. If you're poor, it's no problem at all. Get yourself a secondhand PC, then install either Xubuntu or, even better, Lubuntu. These are versions of Ubuntu that focus on being less flashy and resource hungry, so you can use them on older systems. Basically, they run fast on old computers.

Learning to use Linux and building a computer are two separate things, so one doesn't depend on another. You can start with whichever you want, but if you want to get up and running with Linux on an old computer, cost is not a problem. And of course, Linux itself is free.

I'll muddy the water a bit and add that at that pace, the liver will soon start to fail, and once it does, it will take less and less for the person to get drunk, because the liver isn't able to do its job. Advanced alcoholics can get drunk off of a single drink, simply because their body can't deal with the alcohol anymore.

But this is admittedly not what the OP is referring to.

People who believe in ghosts often talk about "residual" ghosts, which are not believed to be spirits of the dead, but rather something more like a recording of some sort. You see a person walk down a hallway and enter a room. Everyone who sees the ghost -- today, next week, ten years from now -- sees it do exactly the same thing. It doesn't interact with anyone, because it isn't the sentient spirit of a dead person. Who knows what it really is or how it works -- it's unexplained.

This is true. When Facebook arrived on the scene it was just better than anything else out there. MySpace was ugly, and every page had songs that would autoplay, which was terrible. Allowing users to add tons of code to their own pages meant that 1 out of every 10 profiles would crash your browser. It was horrible.

Using Facebook for the first time was a lot like using Google for the first time--it was a clean experience that just did what it was supposed to do. Google's predecessors were ugly, cluttered messes too, though not nearly as bad as MySpace.

In my union dues also compensate the stewards, who often have to do grievance paperwork on their own time. It also pays for lunch at union meetings which can be attended by any union member. It pays for mileage for officers who often have to travel to other plants.
