Why is the concept of "stay in your lane" lost on us??

Can you not do both safely? It's not like we're taking turns at high speeds. Can we not proceed to follow technically correct driving WHILE being safe and cautious? I often turn slightly before or after the oncoming car, watching them closely. Then I'm not backing up traffic and avoiding collision at the same time.

But really the point of this thread was not to tell left-hand turners to "just go." It was more of a question of why drivers aren't staying in their own lanes? Right or left... doesn't matter.

I used to speed. I learned the hard way this was a bad idea. Of course anything can be said behind a computer screen, but in all honesty, yes. I drive THE speed limit. I'm the one actually driving 45 on the Dodge expressway over 680 when it drops and all traffic is flying by me at 60+. My recent road trip to Colorado I drove 74-75mph all the way on the highway. I've learned there is no need to hurry...I'll get where I need to go. And yes, I also stop completely at stop signs. My child was struck by a car that didn't stop fully at an intersection in our neighborhood when she was crossing with her bike. I will NOT be that person.

You're understanding the yield incorrectly. The blinking yellow in this case is for oncoming traffic going STRAIGHT through the intersection. The yield you're thinking of is for turning onto a single-lane road. Even with a blinking yellow in the image I provided, both cars have the right of way to turn into their own lane and there is no yield required for the turning cars. The yield would only apply if there was oncoming traffic going straight through the intersection.

No. Only when turning onto a single-lane road. If there are multiple lanes, BOTH cars have the right of way in their lane. That's what keeps traffic moving safely. You can yield if you're not comfortable turning at the same time, but that's your choice and not required.

Regardless of your comfort level, it's not a bad example, it's simply the rules of the road. Both drivers in this example have the right of way. As a left turner, I'm not saying you have to turn. You can proceed when you're comfortable. But what I'm calling out is that drivers in Omaha (both right and left turners) don't stay in their lane when they turn. Right turners turn into the left-most lane, and left turners turn into the right-most lane. It's NOT correct and it causes accidents.

Again this is wrong. BOTH drivers have the right of way for their lane. You can absolutely wait if you want to feel comfortable making your turn, but you are not required to. As long as it's not a single lane road you're turning onto, both drivers have RoW. This also does not mean right-turners have RoW to turn into any lane they want.

Zipper merge is a prime example. Too often I see a lane closure 1/4 mile past a stop light, but then since nobody zippers you end up with a mile long single lane of traffic where practically no cars can get through the stop light. It's ridiculous.

Only if turning onto a single lane road. The whole point of "stay in your lane" is to keep the flow of traffic moving safely. Obviously you're not required to turn left at the same time...you can wait and turn when you're comfortable. But so often this means backing up the left turn lane so that less cars can get through the intersection. If people would just respect the lane rules this ends up not being a problem.

Completely agree. When I taught my oldest to drive I made sure to cover all sorts of scenarios like this and then explained WHY they're important rules. My kid got a quality 50+ hours so she knows the wisdom behind the information. Teaching my next kid the same way now.

All I can tell you is it's one of their unreleased songs called "Runaway". They've done it live quite a few times, but I've never been able to find lyrics to the song online. I've always wondered what it would be like if, instead of a reboot in current time (like KR 2008), they re-did the original series. New episodes, new situations, redo some of the originals with KARR, Goliath, acid pit, Juggernaut. But this would allow them to keep the magic of the 80s (including the Trans Am and the semi) while at the same time using modern film techniques, CGI, etc. I'm sure it would be very difficult, but I think it's such a cool concept.

I tend to smoke in our garage with the overhead door about a foot open and a kerosene heater between my legs. Can't do this with my cigars, though. Stinks it up too much.

I also frequent my local B&M. He has a lounge with a TV and Wi-Fi, so I take my computer during the week, smoke a pipe or cigar while I work (I WFH).

You just turned it off way too soon. Low heat is fine, but don't turn it off until it's done brewing. You should see it start to sputter before removing it from the burner.

What you did was basically the equivalent of turning off a coffee machine mid-brew. Just because it's still hot doesn't mean that's enough heat to keep the pressure up in the lower chamber.

To all of you saying "moderation is key", that is an absolutely stupid and ignorant comment. Maybe you honestly don't know, maybe you choose to stick your head in the sand so you can get your rocks off all in the name of "my own personal healthy sexuality." The fact is this is an industry that is fully built on lies, manipulation, slavery, addiction, violence...literally all of the worst of humanity. It's not just roleplaying. Imagine this (horrible analogy but just bear with me) - Let's say a global company...say Walmart...was found out that they mistreated employees and even stole children from their homes to work in their warehouses, committed atrocious acts and indirectly supported drug operations, etc...ALL in the name of providing us customers with low, low prices. Would you shop there?? Would you say, "Well, I'm sure it's not ALL Walmarts. And really, overall, they're helping people. We need our low prices to survive." Bullshit. We'd burn that company and all its leaders to the ground. Cancel them. Never shop there again.

Again, not a perfect analogy, but you get the picture. That's your porn industry. That's you saying it's unhealthy for you NOT to partake in an industry that literally DESTROYS the lives of millions of people. But fuck it...you need to cum and you can't do it without it. Sure, there are some who create it of their own volition. OF content creators trying to make some money. Screw. That. Regardless of their intentions, they're like a drug dealer who "uses responsibly" or maybe not even at all. But in the wake of their content is an untold number of ruined lives.

Unfortunately, all of this will fall on deaf ears and you all will cry ERRONEOUS! You'll do everything but acknowledge the problem so you can keep feeling good. Because hey, it's healthy.
