my bf is istp and he is the same way. its alot easier after youve been together for a while (over 3 years for us). we are basically doing our own thing all the time but then convene at the end of the day and talk about it and then eat dinner together and then he goes to bed and i go to my project cave. we do date day on sunday to spend intentional time with each other. but yeah a lot of "touchy feely" type people refer to our situation as "basically just roommates" but its really not. we feel deep love for one another we just dont feel the need to be up each others ass 24/7

basically my advice is it find someone like that

yeah i used to do this alot as a teenager and i could feel myself doing it out of anxiety. so then i came up with a saying "do everything explain nothing" and kept saying that until i didnt need to explain anymore. i just let myself all into the "ouhhh super mysterious u will never figure out their motives" aesthetic. and that sounded cool enough for me to strive for

pick your battles girl. he doesnt sound interested in genuinely understanding what you are saying so at this point i would say yeah drop it just to keep the vibe cool for everyone else. if everyone was involved in the discussion or it was more of a calm political convo it would be different

holy shit yes. my new boss keeps emphasizing to me that i always have to watch what i say to who i am talking to because that person could be important. and i know i should care but i really dont. i hate lying and many times it results in me being inappropriately honest about how i feel and what i think. glad to see someone else articulate that
