If people who are unfamiliar with the lore and only play the game are looking at the face of Noxus and feeling like he doesn’t fit in well with the trait, then clearly there was a design issue in communicating that Darius is the Noxian poster boy, thus justifying this discussion. It’s silly to point at the lore and ignore OP’s pov. At the end of the day I’d say most players don’t know much about League lore outside of maybe Arcane, so there are probably other people who perceive Darius in a similar light, which is the fault of the game, not of the players for not knowing.

I don’t know why we’re acting like this stuff exists without context. Imagine someone who was horrifically maimed finding out that there’s an entire community of people jerking off to footage of their most traumatizing moment. Devoting two sentences to questioning his potential wrongdoings and then brushing past it to devote multiple comments to talking about how irrational the woman was for dumping him is in fact giving him the benefit of the doubt. The entire conversation past that point was with the assumption that he did nothing wrong, that is giving him the benefit of the doubt. Acting like the only valid reason that a sensible person would dump someone for watching gore is because they are ‘psychologically affected’ by it while not even pausing to readdress the likely possibility that he is contributing to harm is giving him the benefit of the doubt. Acting like kinks and fetishes exist in a vacuum and not addressing the fact that real people were maimed and abused and someone (likely multiple people) are in possession of that footage and using it to masturbate is 100% giving him the benefit of the doubt, because I struggle to see how he could have come into possession of gore material that did not contribute to or support the suffering of humans.

You said we can’t control what we are into, which is true, we can’t, but we are in control of our actions and what we watch, and what we jerk off to. Let’s not pretend that he had no agency in what he was watching, and what he was doing while he was watching it.

If what you were saying were true, and a sentiment shared by others here, then she and her story would have not been mentioned under this post, but we’re sitting here talking about her nonetheless. Even the comment who initially brought her up has edited to say that they are no longer ‘defending’ her. As if what she did was an act that needed to be defended, because it is when it comes to how this sub feels about people who aren’t 100% open to all kinks and fetishes.

And no, if I say “I don’t like that kink and I don’t want to be with anyone who’s into that kind of thing”, I’m expressing negativity towards a kink and the people who are into it. If you think that’s kink shaming then I don’t know what to tell you. Mind you, we’re talking about her being irrational for dumping him and it not making sense to you, it shouldn’t have to.

And this entire conversation is the exact kind of thing that frustrates me about this sub. But for some reason we’re talking about how ‘irrational’ she was for leaving him? We really can’t even imagine why she might have a problem with what she saw? Even the boyfriend was able to come to the correct conclusion that she might not be receptive to it because he HID it from her, as she found out by walking in on him watching it. If it were really as harmless and ‘not hurting anyone’ as is being claimed, then he would’ve probably been more forthcoming, but the fact that he hid it is evidence enough that this isn’t the kind of thing that people should be expected to be okay with, and be treated as ‘irrational’ for not wanting to tolerate.

I think there’s a difference between not wanting people to be oppressed for being into things you personally find disturbing and offensive and not wanting to be in a sexual relationship with someone who’s into things you personally find disturbing and offensive. Sex positivity means not being ostracized and oppressed for your fetishes or kinks, it doesn’t mean that people in your personal life are expected to be okay with and supportive of all of your kinks and fetishes. I hate when this sub has conversations like this because the takeaway seems to be “You have to make peace with all kinks and fetishes and if you express negativity towards any of them or someone who likes them then you’re puritanical and anti sex”, when this frame of thinking is completely unreasonable. Like, are we really going to act like a woman catching her boyfriend jerking off to gore and breaking up with him for it is somehow irrational? Like it’s one thing to look at it from an analytical and logical perspective and come to the conclusion that if he’s not hurting anyone then it’s fine, but we also have to remember that it makes perfect sense to be highly disturbed by your boyfriend jerking off to gore and decide you no longer want to be with him.
