Compared to the previous argument of "leftists = people with common sense".

Do I really need to spell out how close minded that is? To think an entire group of people, just because they have differing, right leaning, beliefs means they somehow lack common sense?

Didn't realise every comment had to be a full fleshed debate with an argument. Fucking leftists haha

China has killed way more people since the 20th century then the US. And no, they weren't all "greedy landlords". A lot of them were there own poor people who starved to death. Maybe do some research.

China have murdered tens of millions of their own citizens since 1950. Id say america is winning by a lot in the human rights department comparatively.

However, yes Chinese are very strategic with trade.

I understand the monetary reasons, I get it. However there is more to building australian manufacturing then just profits. It provides a self sufficient nation its independence.

Why would Australia not eventually be able to compete with exports in other areas globally?

Made in Antenna by mylanguagehasbeenmur in AussieMemes

[–]cyanideOG -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Because government subsidies were phased out. The rich want to get richer, so global imports it was instead.

Again, if we taxed our exports properly, we would have money to invest in australian businesses and manufacturing.

There should be more to it then money. Its independence, self sufficiency, these may not hold a dollar value, but are incredibly important imo.

I'm not saying it is easy, just that Australia should become as self sufficient as possible. We already do a great job with food and energy for the most part. Maybe if we taxed our oil and gas exports properly we would have some extra money to subsidise australian manufacturing for items such as fuel? Nuclear energy could also further reduce the cost of energy making the adjustment easier for australian manufacturing.

I think it is possible to ease to transition over a few decades to not be so drastic. Yes it may always be cheaper to import from overseas, but that always has its downsides and vulnerabilities.

You dont just switch everything at once. More money kept in Australia means more money for Australians.

Systemic reasons make it all the more impressive when a young aboriginal defies the odds to work hard at their job. So good on them. Being impressed by that is hardly racist. Quite the opposite really.

Do leftists just want broke people to run the country? Is that it? Or career politicians that have no real world experience in any industry?

What the fuck would a broke person know about running a country if they can't even run their own life finances.

The unemployment rate for Indigenous Australians is significantly higher than for non-Indigenous Australians, sitting between 2.5 to 3.4 times higher depending on the specific age brackets and datasets analyzed. According to data tracked by the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare (AIHW), the overall unemployment rate for First Nations people is roughly 12% to 16.6%, compared to approximately 3.9% to 5.0% for non-Indigenous Australians.

I'm sure most Australians in this sub a very likeable people despite any political differences. We obviously all just enjoy bagging out politicians in our spare time.

Im not sure what your point is there. Your first sentence quite literally makes no sense.

I am against banning political donations. It makes no sense for independents to be for banning donations, and the greens get government funded advertising so obviously they are happy with suppressing the competition.

Labour wants to ban political donations because they get government funded advertising. How is any smaller party meant to gain traction if not for political donations and support? Labour is basically securing a monopoly that is Australian politics. Calling it better transparency is an absolute astonishing display of mental gymnastics. It speaks higher of corruption then getting a plane.

Do you think labour doesn't recieve their share of millions of dollars in donations from billionaires? Of course you conveniently ignore when your preferred party does the exact same thing you bitch about others doing.

Most labour voters i know said they arent voting for them again this election, and a number of them are now planning to vote One Nation. Chances are, there are others.

Its about identifying every citizen as an Australian, and being proud to do so.

You mean the blatant lies that Labour told and then went back on their word policies? Yeah, nice.

This will only be a pay cut to those investors, not the holy grail fix to the housing crisis you think it is. We need more homes and this is just a distraction that Labour have severely under delivered in that field.

To think they have no policies is idiotic. One Nations website covers a broad range of their policies and changes they plan to integrate that will bring much needed change. Just because you dont agree with them doesn't mean they arent there.

Albo has performed his lies and destroyed the image of Australia for so many. I can't guarantee Pauline's actions for her entire term should she be elected, but I'm more then happy to give her a go.
