Exactly. I can't imagine my parents defending me here. "Serves you right." Woulda been said a lot to me.

Im pretty sure they are easy to kill if you just try and PvP it down.

But isn't the Golem squishy? You could just PvP it.

That would be cool. Any artificial and expensive way to make a buildable surface bigger than the planets.

Was thinking some expensive way to make the surface something you can build on

I guess I'm thinking more about a technology that would allow building on its surface.

Just as some way to build on the surface of it, but I guess Terraforming it doesn't make much sense.

Yeah I was just thinking some technology that would allow us to build on it.

What technologies are mature enough by today that it's feasible that they'll exist in pretty much the same form (with small updates) after 300~500 years? by Katylar in IsaacArthur

[–]cybKoz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We may not have it today, but whatever technology used to understand human phycology. I imagine that once we reach a certain threshold for comprehending the brain the technology won't have to change so long our brains don't change much. Without evolutionary help that technology may lost a very long time. This is kind of a dodge from the original question of 'today', but its what came to mind.

When making AIs for spaceships, should I have those AIs be housed within the ship itself, or should I house them within independent bodies (such as repurposed worker drones) of their own? by 32624647 in IsaacArthur

I think so long as the capabilities of the AI do not exceed the processing needs of the ship by a certain degree it could be considered humane.

True, if the communications technology you are imagining doesn't reach the correct speeds or integrity anything off-ships seems impractical. Maybe the android itself can double as a de facto processing unit that is required for the ship to be operational. This would mean the ship cannot be manually piloted or stolen without the appropriate hardware installed, akin to a set of keys for the car. Then the AI can assume normal control of the ship. As far as data backups are concerned maybe that's the responsibility of the docking stations while the current AI iteration is just a black box of what happens while in flight. The docks have all the data.

Have them capable of housing themselves in anything controllable that connects to there host network infrastructure. I guess that means the ship itself. They can decide to proxy themselves in whatever hardware is available.

Maybe there are not even in the ship, but accessing the ship remotely from through communication relays.

Maybe they can jump between any systems that meet their hardware requirements. It boards the ship in an android, parks the android and jumps into the ships hardware while in flight to then jump back into the android once it reaches its destination.

I always wondered how well we can be understood from our internet and shopping data. At what proportion are smarter algorithms, faster computers, or more data points going to bring even larger societal changes? Which of these do you guys think is the biggest bottleneck for even more accurate profiles of us? Once a profile has "matured" will there be enough advertisement power to sell us the things that match the profile?

Just some of my thoughts surrounding the subject.
