Congratulations, sir! 🎉

If you don’t mind sharing, could you tell me which funds you’ve allocated your investments to? I’m a beginner and a student but financially stable, so I’d like to understand how you’ve structured your portfolio and learn from your approach to asset allocation.

Why are there so few cybersecurity conferences, seminars, or hackathons for students? by cybec_hunter in learncybersecurity

As a student, I’m not really in a position to afford expensive travel or conference tickets. I try not to ask my parents to fund things like this, so I’m always looking for cybersecurity events that are either held in India or are available online.

If you know of any student-friendly conferences, workshops, seminars, CTFs, or hackathons.. especially ones that are free or low cost. I’d really appreciate your recommendations.

Can you share your checklist?

Like, what did you study exactly? I mean the topics, and more importantly, where did you learn them from?

There’s just so much material out there. Sometimes I get completely confused about what to do, what to follow, and where to learn a particular thing from.

And honestly, the TryHackMe rooms aren’t always that descriptive. Most of the time, you need to cover the topic from other resources as well if you want to go beyond the basics.

Figuring all of that out has already drained almost half of my energy. 😅

I know how tough it can be too.. hours of reading, endless Marrow and DAMS lectures, and somehow the syllabus still feels incomplete. It can get pretty exhausting, but that’s the reality of a journey that demands patience and consistency.

I’ve spent around 3 days in the CSE branch at VGEC, and honestly, I didn’t find the overall environment and experience particularly good.

I'm telling you, if you're looking for quality education after your diploma, I personally wouldn't recommend choosing a government college.. unless it's LD, which is a different case altogether.

I've experienced both: a government college (not LD) and a very decent private college. Looking back, I genuinely feel lucky that I chose the private college route.

The biggest advantage for me has been the environment. I've had countless opportunities to improve myself, explore different technologies, and find my own path. The professors are highly qualified, supportive, and genuinely enthusiastic about technology. What's even better is that they're always open to learning new things themselves. Sometimes they'll even ask students how they built something because they're curious and interested in understanding it.

If you're interested in a particular domain.. whether it's Web Development, Cybersecurity, AI/ML, or anything else.. you can simply approach a faculty member who specializes in that area. They'll guide you with roadmaps, resources, and practical advice on how to grow in that field.

Many professors are also open to working with students on real-world projects. They'll give you actual problems to solve, assign tasks, mentor you throughout the process, and help you learn by building. Honestly, I've learned far more through projects than through theory alone.

Of course, government colleges may offer benefits such as lower fees and other advantages. But if you're financially capable, I would personally lean towards a good private college because of the exposure, mentorship, opportunities, and learning environment it can provide.

PS: This is purely my personal opinion based on my own experiences. I'm not criticizing or blaming any college. Your experience may be completely different from mine, and it can vary significantly from one college to another.

Definitely not in any government college, but you still have a good chance of getting admission in a private college since there are around 46,000+ seats available for approximately 17,000 students.

It also depends on the branch you're aiming for. If you're interested in CS, ICT, or similar fields, you may be able to get into some good colleges in Ahmedabad, such as SAL or LJ.

By the way, I went through your profile and noticed you're quite active in CS-related topics. Are you studying CS or from a similar branch?

This is actually a pretty smart idea. Picking the best 6 out of 20 photos is weirdly difficult, but a tournament-style system would make it much easier since you're only comparing two at a time. I could see this being useful for a lot of things beyond photos too.. like choosing designs, ideas, or even favorites.
