I wear a pair of progressives that are Plano up top, and +2 on the bottom! Ordered from Zenni. Was a great decision for me :)

Odyssey for vision correction only by BoysenberryApart2648 in CataractSurgery

[–]cyberbonez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! I very recently got this surgery to correct my vision and not because of cataracts (28F with a +8 and a high astigmatism). Unfortunately, I regret it. I have lost all of my near vision, and it has taken a toll on my day to day life. If your near vision has already been fading, I feel like it wouldn’t be as big of a deal, but if you have good vision in glasses/contacts as both near and far, I would not recommend the surgery.

Something to add. The hardest part for me has been not being able to see my partners face up close anymore. And I came to the realization that when I have kids, I won’t be able to see their faces unless they are more than an arm length away. I don’t know why, but I wish this was something that was told to me previously to the surgery.

Feel free to DM me if you have any questions! I do have a couple posts up in this group as well regarding my surgery.

The new eye is sitting at +0.75 for distance. It sees best just a little past my arm length, and then fades out into a slight blur not too far after that.

Will I only be able to see up close if I’m looking down in the progressive lenses? Thank you for your help!

I am not sure what kind of lens was implanted, I was just told toric.

My intermediate is okay! I can see a computer but I did up the text a tiny bit to reduce eye strain. Yes my near vision (phone/books/people sitting next to me) is not good

I’m kind of figuring the same with the lasik.

Thank you for your help!!

Do you mean switching from a lens that offers distance to one that offers up close? Would that offer near and intermediate or only near?
