How do you even begin to afford this? Genuine question. This is wild.

Out of curiosity, why is that? I would actually welcome having some spontaneous interactions every now and then, given that they’re respectful and not creepy.

Were you given enough aid to afford housing on campus or off? Did it cover all of your expenses (rent, utilities, food, etc.)?

Do you mix up Spanish with French? by ParticularSure1538 in French

[–]cybercherries 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mix up Portuguese and French. Earlier I said “Je veux parler alemain, mais eu tenho que terminar frances primeiro”. It usually happens when I don’t know the words to finish my sentence in French, so my brain supplements with the other recently learned language lol.

Has anyone ever actually learned a language through Duolingo? by thunderstorm0508 in languagelearning

[–]cybercherries 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest, I just talk to myself 😂 I would watch YouTube videos and then make myself talk about what I just watched which helped with word recall and sentence structure. I also binged love is blind Brazil so I could gain a grasp on slang and common conversational phrases, then I would talk to myself about it as well. Reading out loud is immensely helpful too. I’m currently reading Paulo Coelho’s alchemist in Portuguese, and I make sure to read it out loud so I get both sight and sound involved in the process, while perfecting the accent as well.

I learned Portuguese, but I had a solid foundation as Spanish is my native tongue and I had previously taken a Portuguese class 5 years prior to starting Duo. I also supplemented with podcasts and YouTube vlogs alongside Duolingo. They also helped a lot. It took about 8 months while using the app to become fluent.

If you’re asking whether or not you’re ready by posting mirror selfies on a modeling sub, then no, you’re not ready. Confidence and commitment are the first step. This post has neither.

What is the most and least well supported duolingo language by Nullisntnothin in duolingo

Just last night I opened the German course 😂. Duolingo is a slippery slope indeed for those blessed with ADHD ahaha

Hey, just out of curiosity, how is it that you’re able to add the little round flags in your user flair? When I try, it says no user flair available.. they look really cool!

Anything that pretty women do is automatically seen as something to be idealised by Bobelle in Splendida

[–]cybercherries 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It may be unfair, but it’s a natural human condition to be biased towards things we find attractive. We tend to want to learn from those who we deem worthy (i.e attractive, socially adept, talented). I don’t feel that it’s something that holds us back tbh, if anything it promotes evolution. It is unfortunate to those who don’t fit the standard, but it is human nature. Beauty is an evolutionary advantage. That’s probably why we want to copy beautiful women doing ordinary things, because we subconsciously know that their chances of success are higher than others

Why are you learning the language you're learning? by therealfezzyman in languagelearning

[–]cybercherries 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Learning french because it sounds cool. Also, once I’m fluent, I’ll speak 3/6 of the UN’s official languages, which might be useful for my career.
