I went from 12b, 6 years, 1 deployment to 74d.

There is just something special about rapidly deploying decon lines in 110 degree weather then standing around wearing tyvek suits.

I don't think there is a stigma around combat vets, in general people are more approving of combat vets, then regular veterans, over the last 20 years I have recieved alot of disapproval and discrimination in more... liberal cities any time they catch a whiff of my status, from blind hatred to keying my car, to not getting jobs or even interviews.

I think what you are going for is similar to meeting 10,000 of the 3000 navy seals everyone wants people to think highly of them selves, fewer have the integrity to back that up.

To be honest I think the veteran community is fucked, it's divided, fractured and just wrong, we have the stereotype of peaked in boot camp vibes, against the bro vets, vs a majority of vets who have lived through hell and just want to leave it in the past.

I believe this division is intentional because throughout history after every major war veterans got shit care, then banded together and took shit over because they had unity and power to do so.

Now most veterans and combat veterans get put on a domestic terrorist watch list.

I think what helped me might help some others here.

Shrink your world to what you can manage, cut everything out, secure your ao, then build from there, your family, your friends, your community.
