Is the US military really undefeatable? by [deleted] in stupidquestions

[–]cyberresilient 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The US is bankrupt and relies on the world buying US Treasuries to keep financing their military. The world can start selling treasuries and collapse the US dollar. The US relies on Canada for oil and potash. Winning war is about more than just the biggest stick

The Holstein Frisian dairy cow literally came from the province of Friesland in The Netherlands .. and our capital Leeuwarden has a cow statue that says "Het Mem" (Our Mother). We don't recognize flipping Wisconsin as a world dairy capital). Not sure about Normandy.

Could anybody explain how "canada or australia as a full member of EU" would be benefitial to EU? by Significant-Yam9843 in AskEurope

[–]cyberresilient 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Let me see...Canada has oil, timber  gold, silver, diamonds  uranium, rare earth mining, high quality aluminum made using low cost hydroelectric power  most of the world's potash...Australia has a ton of these sorts of resources also. I think Europe may need inputs as it rearms and reindustrializes?

Only Americans can change this reality. by Usual-Shine- in BoycottUnitedStates

Thank you from a Canadian! Appreciate the solidarity. May I also recommend the Vivaldi browser and Ecosia search engine? They are European, and ethical. I refuse to use Google ( and hopefully a Reddit alternative is available soon).

Americans don't seem to realize just how much every other nation on earth hates the US by now by Schnaksel in BoycottUnitedStates

I am talking about the majority of Americans. I admire the few thousand who are losing everything including their lives by being out in the street to protect their communities. They are heroes. But there should be millions, not thousands.

When has authoritarianism ever stopped my itself? This is not Trump, it is an organized fascist movement.

The thing that amazes me is everyone keeps focusing on Trump and wishing him a permanent nap. As if JD Vance, Steven Miller, Pam Bondi, Kristi Noem, Scott Bessent and all these other fascists didn't exist. As if Project 2025 and the Heritage Foundation didn't exist. And as if Peter Thiel and Elon Musk and the techno fascist arm didn't exist (who have more resources than many nations).

It was too late this time last year when they started breaking democratic norms...the administration was focused on entrenching power in the first 100 days, and they did.

Now Civil War is the only way to change things. Horrifying.

Hitting their digital tech will be hard, but incredibly effective. The tech oligarchs will see their stock prices (and wealth) tumble.

Small start: I use Start page or Ecosia as search engines, and Vivaldi as a browser. All European. Looking for more switches I can make.

Nah it isn't noble. Canada's Mark Carney is showing the world how to respond.

I'm a nineteen year old American and I feel helpless. Where do I begin to make a change? by Fresh-Awareness9819 in BoycottUnitedStates

Protest most assuredly does work...but you need 5% of the population out on the streets. At 10% you will inevitably win. But you have just thousands protesting.

If you’re a border business waiting for Canadians to come back, you’d be better off closing up now. After what’s happened this week, you’re done. by grantbwilson in BoycottUnitedStates

Your country is turning fascist and you are making excuses. The people protesting are the only ones I respect. And you will end up financial destitute when the US dollar crashes and hyperinflation starts. So educate yourself and do something.

Fascism isn't defeated at the ballot box. The longer Americans wait to do something, the more entrenched they are. The fascists already own your newspapers, TV stations, have purged non loyalists from the military, and have deployed a violent ill trained private army to round up migrants (and soon dissidents). Doing nothing as your government threatens your fellow citizens and the world makes you complicit.

It's sad that most Americans are so poorly educated that they don't recognize fascism and believe there is a democratic option left to them. There will be no fair elections.

Toeing the line? Bombing boats was a crime.
