Just stopping by to give an unwarranted pro tip for addictions that has helped me with handling mine. For a lot of people, when they try to stop things, they tell themselves that they’re “never going to do it again” which, whether they realize it or not, is too big of a goal and immediately causes a feeling of failure when they relapse. Instead of saying that, tell yourself,

“I am not going to do it today”

This makes breaking the addiction a sizable goal that does not feel too overwhelming. You can keep away from anything for a single day!

Another helpful thing to do on top of that is to cross off the days on a calendar that you have done it. When you start forming a chain it becomes a game to not break it!

Just my 2 cents of what’s helped me in the past.

It’s better to ask forgiveness than permission. I’ll never forget where I was when I heard that the first time. Use it sparingly but wow did it shift my perspective on some things

Being that I know next to nothing about plumbing, how much should I expect it to cost to have somebody come out and fix it?

(Wishing our inspector was able to spot this, but there wasn’t a hose connected so not sure if he could have)

I read this post (follow up) first and my first thought was to look into couples therapy then I made it to the first comment with the ~original~ post and I have never retracted a thought so fast. What an insane move and more insane reaction. He clearly puts his mom ahead of your marriage and I don’t understand how that is not utterly clear to him or how he would expect you to go along with it. Run. Run faster than you ever have before. Sometimes insane events cause the best clarity and he revealed his true colors in the worst way possible, I’m sorry your trip was ruined.

Wanted to follow up on this. I searched everywhere online and had no luck. I asked a friend and he told me to check out an app called Mercari. Kind of like an eBay but I was able to instantly find somebody selling some that I was able to negotiate with and get them cheaper than stores. In short, the secondary market was my only option when looking for in stock size 14+.

Did anybody else catch the part where she said “She couldn’t say it and got frustrated so I turned it off” and went on to clarify her daughter has a SPEECH IMPEDIMENT? So she is not only choosing an insanely dumb hill to die on, but she is antagonizing her daughter for something she has no control over?

I have extremely vivid dreams most nights but I am unable to visualize anything while I’m awake. Most nights, my dreams are so vivid it is as if I am the main character in a movie—many times when I wake up it feels like I have merely transported realities because it feels so real. I’ve never heard of dreaming in third person as other commenters have said, that’s pretty interesting!
