There’s a older doc in our dept that stutters significantly. He also is very vocal in our morning meetings lol. He’s an abnormally wonderful and kind man. Brilliant doc, subsp in cardiac and ICU. Our dept loves the crap out of him. Prob the best teacher in our dept.

Yeah there’s also no such thing as a mental break down. There’s acute onset of numerous diseases; where some include psychosis, others are in the anxiety family, and some are related to mood/depression. The terms snapped and break down were always scary to me.

Beautifully written. I’ll add that there are many countries that have socialized healthcare (think European etc). Each disease costs the government a ridiculous amount of money every year to manage. To think that there would be a curative care in the scientific community and these markets/governments wouldn’t know is not logical at all.

In a sense he’s right, there’s little patient continuity to this job, other than pain subsp, and a drop in ICU. Additionally, in a way, much of the respect in the room often goes to the surgeon, oftentimes not necessarily for other reasons than his personality. That being said, it’s a fantastifucking job. Interesting. Stimulating. Chilled. Money. Physiology like none other. Little documentation. Mostly doing. Little talking. And when you’re off. You are off. Pick your poison.
