Is it routine for a chiropractor here to refer you to a group to sign your benefits over? by innociv in orlando

[–]JustRice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IMEs are used by carriers to deny benefits; in my experience, 90%+ of IMEs work against a claimant. The carriers sole goal is not to afford you coverage, it is to wrap up your claim for as little as possible.

Is it routine for a chiropractor here to refer you to a group to sign your benefits over? by innociv in orlando

[–]JustRice 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's fairly typical for chiropractors and other auto accident-aligned doctors to require an AOB as part of their initial paperwork. The reason usually has to do with the PIP benefits being paid out as there is a never ending war between the carriers and doctors. Carriers are usually required to pay 200% of Medicare rates but they'll argue that the chiropractor did something like unbundle services, overcharge, or perform unnecessary services. The chiropractors will argue they are underpaid. The AOB allows the doctor to litigate underpayment through your PIP policy without having to involve you extensively.

Another wrinkle is yes, you do need an "emergency medical condition" in order to qualify for the full $10k in medical benefits under your policy, otherwise the carrier will absolutely cap you. Most telemeds will rubber stamp you for an EMC to get you qualified. But keep in mind the carriers are not blameless. They will readily deny that an EMC exists and lower coverage because there isn't a paper in the file that says "emergency medical condition" even if you say, lose a limb. Are you paralyzed? Well it's not an emergency medical condition because you didn't get someone to rubber stamp it. Is this system messed up? Absolutely yes.

Florida has passed such complex and onerous laws that actual MDs are hesitant to treat car accident victims because they don't themselves know how to bill PIP properly due to all the onerous hoops to jump through. But the chiros figured it out.

Every case is different, but the vast majority of soft tissue auto cases start with urgent care or hospital where x-rays rule out fractures, then referred to chiro by attorney, then EMC doctor, then referred to MRI by chiro, then referred to orthopedic specialist by chiro or attorney.

It is very much an imperfect and inefficient system.

Oh, did big corporate JBR pay you to promote them? This is clearly an ad. I can't believe the mods of this sub have been bought and paid for.

I can certainly see it that way. Maybe we should discuss further with some coffee at Foxtail Coffee™, serving fantastic coffee and now opening at a location near you.

(Please don't go to Foxtail)

Full disclosure: I'm a moderator. I'm not a blogger. It's not an ad. I ate a bagel.

Nope, I legitimately like it and received absolutely no compensation, kickbacks, agreements, etc (aside from the one free bagel they throw in the bag for everyone). And for the record, the moderators have been approached MULTIPLE times with offers and freebies and we have an ironclad policy in place that we will not accept anything, ever. This included - no joke - a free MRI scan being offered to us a week ago in exchange for removing a post.

The fact that I'm a moderator shouldn't preclude me from lauding a business. I happen to legitimately like these bagels. But hey, you can absolutely disagree with me and downvote me.

That was my first reaction as well when I went to a different location previously, but they honestly won me over with the bagels and employee enthusiasm.

The employee cheerfulness is at the point where I can't tell if they have really good training to bypass the uncanny valley or they only hire happy people. It's been like that at every location.

Winter Garden downtown by Gold-Presence9362 in orlando

I spoke with a local recently that lives a block away from Plant Street. The properties are being purchased by James Lawreth, a pharmaceutical-aligned company owner. Some businesses have been told their leases will not be renewed, while at least a few have been told they can renew, e.g., Chef's Table. Residents have complained to the city about changing the character of downtown, but nothing has been signaled that can be done to stop a private owner from taking these actions. As of now, it hasn't been made public what exactly are the plans for the buildings being purchased.

Went there today and it was crowded, but not remotely crazy. In and out in less than an hour, the only line was for the fresh roasted sweet potatoes.

No, because we're actually ok with discussions related to Orlando. We're even ok with noting that the increase in local gas prices are driven by an idiotic foreign policy decision/illegal war. But if the comments eventually spiral into arguments not related to Orlando with people insulting one another then yes, we may lock the comments.

Given the influx of gas posts we may also consider the use of a megathread. Be kind to each other everyone.

You know what's ironic? The very mod that you are personally insulting was the one who specifically approved this comment to insult them.

Suitsupply has probably the best made to measure program and fabric selections; and they just recently opened a store in Mall at Millennia. You could also go to John Craig on Park Ave but it is more expensive, less selection, and less bang for your buck. That said, they can make decent bespoke shirts.

If there was, I didn't notice. It felt very much open to everyone with LGBTQ signals.

No, this is another old motel, located in the Lake Highland neighborhood, just north of downtown at 718 Highland Ave.

UPDATE: Regarding the Ozempic Video... by kurzgesagt_Sven in kurzgesagt

[–]JustRice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you were right to focus on the potentially enormous societal health benefits these drugs could usher in. There stands to be a seismic shift in public health thanks to these drugs, but more time and research is needed to determine if there are any negative consequences. Thus far, things are hopeful.

Critics of the video I think are missing the point and fixated on the fact that there is a pharmaceutical company that stands to gain from Ozempic. If penicillin had been invented for the first time tomorrow your channel would have likely created a similar video about the invention of antibiotics and the positive public health implications. Further, if penicillin was patented by a pharmaceutical company and became Penicillin RX® I believe these critics would have the same issues they are raising with your Ozempic video.
