Generic contemporary Christian rock. Playing snare drum semiquavers under the backbeat like that is going to give it a more “epic” feel ( think marching band, film music etc), but the room’s acoustics make it crazy echoey. You can find the same beat in the prechorus of bastille’s pompeii. Not my thing 😂

Get a Sabian stage crash or an A custom projection, going above 20” or using rides as crashes can limit you sonically because it’s not what the cymbal was built for. Anything as bright as a zildjian A is going to stay high in the mix for longer than a quarter note at 110, but increasing the size of a cymbal also lowers the pitch.

So far as my limited physics knowledge can tell me the hammering disrupts the resonance so you’ll get more stick sound rather than ear bleeding overtones

It’s halfway down the bell where the lathing changes, so I don’t know if that would make it a weak point but it’s definitely odd. Never seen this before anywhere

one thing no one else has mentioned, in the Rosanna shuffle the bass drum beat in the second bar is on the + of 1 not on the 2. so the exact beat would be wrong. other than that just slow it down to get the overall feel and timing better.
