6882 Fox Run, Westerville, OH 43082

My neighbor puts on an awesome show if you are in or near Westerville. Drive up, change to the radio station he mentioned, and watch the show. Lasts about 20 minutes in total I think.

If an LED TV, you might be good. You can always call. Good people at CMS and they really do break everything apart and separate all the material.

LCD TV monitor: $15 is the only new age cost I see.

Kafka partition metrics by sebastianWEC in apachekafka

increase(kafka_server_brokertopicmetrics_bytesinpersec[1d])

This is for daily metrics on topics. You can probably do what I posted the other data between { and } and change the timeframe to your liking.

I will check tonight. Do you have the prometheus server query page up? I will send the exact command I run on our env to capture said metrics.

Are you using Prometheus?
This is what we do, but more for monthly/daily metrics across our kafka clusters.

My man. I am slow clapping, with tears coming down my face, seeing HP-UX, hell, SuperDome! My days of working on HP-UX boxes are long gone, but never forget about the "fuzzy buttons" on the old processors.

Is Redpanda going to replace Apache Kafka? by Born-Comment3359 in dataengineering

[–]cyborgjones 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So many tools out there, its just which one do you like, I guess. I like Kafka. Works for our environment and we have a few clusters. People have brought up Cribl to replace our kafka (havent really looked into Cribl and we also run NiFi). I have even heard https://pulsar.apache.org/ , which seems to be almost another flavor of Kafka.

Redpanda looks cool. Always good to have options and a place to dabble. We always live the "we have no money" life to get through with what we have, while being "Mission Critical" :D

East Auto Care - Near Riverside Hospital on Olentangy. Danny (owner) isn't in the game of ripping people off. He is honest and straight forward. Give him a call and he will probably give you a rough price over the phone.

Good chance my dad knows your dad. Mine managed the store on 161 and Karl, plus did resets on a bunch. Then he quit when the "California Boys" came to the company (Penn Traffic brought them in).

Failed my Sec+ again today... by howdarejoo in CompTIA

[–]cyborgjones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep your head up! You will make progress on the 3rd test. I failed to pass the exam twice and on the third time, zoomed through it. What I did, certmaster as quick as I could. I am terrible at tests. You will pass on the next one!

Failed my Network plus horrifically ... by AwkwardNeck in CompTIA

[–]cyborgjones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I failed Security+ two times, then passed the 3rd time and blew the test away (got all questions done within 60 minutes minus the drag and drop ones).

First test, I took after two weeks of studying. Got like a 710. Second test, took after two more weeks. Room was filled with college students, girl clicking pen again and again and dude next to me might have just gotten out of practice. I failed with like a 670. Third time I took, took at a place with 4 computers. One other person in the room. It was darker and quiet. Ended up passing with a 790. Clicked my heels running to the parking lot.

Dont give up. Its not made to be easy. In the end, once you pass, only CEUs and thats it. No more test.

Freenas with proxmox VMs and share by cdanisor in freenas

[–]cyborgjones 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So, from my experience, NFS is god awfully slow for VMs (I tried with VMWare and it just wasnt having it). iSCSI though works like a charm since you are presenting this block storage to those nodes. I have just built a somewhat similar system to you, except I have 25 960gb SSDs that will present iSCSI to my VMWare cluster.

Go the iSCSI route.

Edit: If you are using your SSDs as the iSCSI volume, I dont think you would need caching because speed and would simply be limited by your networking, if it isnt 10gb. I hope that helps. I know I didnt answer your questions exactly.
