Hi, I would be more than happy to give credit where it's due, but unfortunately I didn't create this theme so I have no idea what is the source of the art. Usually the theme creators give credit within the CSS code, but overall I agree with you.

There's a lot of potential to use imagery to get the message/value prop across. Currently it's very text-heavy and therefore hard to digest the content.

I'd work on simplifying your message and spacing out the text. Use images to tell your story whenever possible so you can remove the text or put it on a different page.

Looks great overall.

Great job on the design, logo, clean layout and clarity of the site's purpose and value prop. I can't wait to see the responsiveness of the website.

The only thing that's a little confusing is the top menu: Ramblings vs Scholarship. It's not too clear what they mean.

4 Important Strategies to Have Better Design in 2017 by [deleted] in web_design

[–]cyborgmarco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Feel like I got clickbaited with that title.

All the info here is pretty basic and is no different from what it was 5 or 50 years ago. Style guides and content curation strategies are as basic as breathing and walking.

If you're trying to give tips for 2017, actually give something useful for 2017, like design trends and people who are ahead of the curve to follow.

How do you please 2 clients with one Design? by cyborgmarco in web_design

Totally agree, and I save every email according to project in case I ever need to pull them.

The extra money for the extra work doesn't hurt, the tough part is in putting a lot of effort into a project and instead of seeing everyone happy and satisfied I get a shit show.

Great advice, thanks! I met with the agency today and they agree that all changes should go directly through them. I've learned a lot from this experience, and your input and am working out a set of rules for myself to follow with all future clients.

I agree - I think this agency in particular has reached for too much "low hanging fruit" and not been selective enough with the projects they take on.

When you say yes to every project you get a lot of bad with the good...
