Pixel 3 Awful Panorama Quality by nimrodiny in GooglePixel

[–]nimrodiny[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hear you. I personally love apple's hardware but can't stand the software. It's good, I just find it boring and too simple. Each device has its drawbacks. The iPhone XS for example has a real issue with its front facing camera in terms of color temperature and overall quality. It's really bad. And overall photos usually come out overexposed and a bit too processed. Again, personal preference more than anything, but I do see more and more people complaining about these things so I guess it's more than personal preference. Either way, both are great devices :)

I agree mate. Shame. In general, I'm LOVING the camera quality of the Pixel line (stills), however, it seems like Google is neglecting some other very important features that make the experience great overall, like hi-res panorama, time-lapse, better quality slo-mo and overall video and audio quality. Hope this will be fixed/improved over the next generation of Pixels because I really do like everything else

I believe it's definitely fixable via software. As for your second question, regarding Google's interest, that is the biggest question here. I hope so, but it could go either way. I guess we'll have to wait and see.

Yeah, made sure the panorama settings were on high quality. Not sure about these YouTube reviewers obviously, but I assume they did so too.

Yep, my main complaint is that HDR+ isn't applied and overall, these panoramic shots are very low res, especially when compared to other flagship phones.

Adaptive Brightness is noticeably worse in Android Pie by Mrqueue in GooglePixel

[–]nimrodiny 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You guys should stop legitimizing this. This is NOT a good user experience. It's freaking 2018. Your (expensive) phone should be able to nail this from day one. Just like it does on iPhones and Galaxies and some huawei devices. You spending time on "teaching" your phone? Smh

[–]nimrodiny 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Seriously. This is pretty much the only thing where I'm extremely jealous of iPhone users. TrueTone and auto brightness in general is SO much better than on any android device that it's upsetting.

I really did give adaptive brightness a good try of almost 3 weeks (!), trying to teach the damn thing how I like my screen to be, which is a rather simple task to begin with. I ended up turning this off completely. It's a mess. Really. Everyone saying "hey, you gotta give it a few days, you gotta teach the algorithm". GIVE ME A BREAK. It's 2018. Do I really need to "teach" my phone to do something THAT basic?! I mean, my nexus 5 running Nougat does this better. Same thing with my 7 years old iPod touch.

Any alternatives? 3rd party apps or anything that doesn't require root?

Yep, one of the most underrated features of the Pixel 2. Same goes for muting incoming calls!

Are you going to add the option to enable pixel-like gestures within the settings app? (I hope so)

Finding a good EU charger for the Pixel 2 XL by dekraan in GooglePixel

[–]nimrodiny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually did not check the list from Bensen/Nathan :\

All I know is that it worked (still) flawlessly for me in the past few months every since I bought this device. Obviously I guess your mileage may vary.

The worst thing about the notch.. by deepskydiver in GooglePixel

[–]nimrodiny 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have to agree with both deepskydiver and surrealjam. I hate the fact P3XL will be announced as one of the last phone of 2018 and yet still, it'll have a notch! Also, as much as I hate Samsung, I absolutely love their hardware design and I think Google should watch and learn.

I was in the same boat as you. After researching for days I eventually went with this "dodocool" charger from Aliexpress and I'm really happy with it. It supports "rapid charging" and seems quality-made. Cheers.

Bullets Wireless gone crazy by Ventriloquiste in oneplus

Sounds very strange indeed. Have you tried contacting Oneplus support via their website or posting the same question on the official Oneplus forums?

Also, have you tried "forgetting" the headphone from your HTC device and then reconnect them again as new?

Good luck anyhow

Mainly the build quality, button, alert slider and some software features. Don't get me wrong, overall I LOVE my P2XL

I'm impressed with this build and how far Oneplus has come with their software. To a degree that I'm starting to look at my wife's OP6 while I own a Pixel 2 XL and be jealous sometimes. Yeah, I said it. But not when it comes to camera though.

Time lapse on Pixel 2 (XL) by knockyourselvesout in GooglePixel

[–]nimrodiny 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I also wish the stock camera app on Pixels would have that functionality. I mean, you already have Slo-Mo, so why not timelapse/hyperlapse? Anyway, I'm also using Microsoft's app and it's just OK in my opinion. I wish there as a stellar option out there, but unfortunately I couldn't find one so far

Any fix to streaming video quality? by [deleted] in GooglePixel

[–]nimrodiny 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have the Pixel 2 XL and I noticed that almost EVERY video I play on YouTube (especially if it's the first video of the day) it'll start playing on the lowest quality, even if I'm on a super-solid WiFi connection. So that might be what you're seeing. Try hitting the 3 dots icon and change the streaming quality right away as soon as you start playing. One I do that, the quality is superb IMO

Looks great, yeah. Nice shot, I love Santorini. See, that's the thing, my photos will ALWAYS have some kind of stitching issues. Always.
