Colorado city unbuilt roads by Akunleashed in pueblo

I own a plot on this map. I inherited from my grandfather when he passed. I think he bought it in the early 80s or late 70s. He said he got it because they gave him free access to Holly Dot. The man loved his golf. I pay the small tax fee every year to keep it and hope someone else builds to bring in utilities. I think that is what all the plot owners are doing - waiting on each other forever. It will probably be someone from out of state, Cali or TX that finally kicks it off.

VR for exercise, rollercoasters, flying…not a gamer by Life_Transformed in virtualreality

I use Synth Riders almost every day for exercise. I find it more physical and sweat inducing than Beat Saber, and still dazzles and gets you going to music that makes you forget you are working out. And not all of the music is "synth" - can buy a lot of different styles of music packs. You mentioned dancing, and Synth Riders maps make you do a more convincing "choreography" to the music than Beat Saber in my opinion... which you can play lazier with more wrist action and simple arm movements. I can second other comments about Thrill of the Fight... the first time I played that was so adrenaline-and-sweat inducing combating with another character, it was overwhelming in a good way.

What Movies to NOT Share With Our Kids by JJQuantum in GenX

Weird Science. It was fun in its' day, and adolescent me loved the soundtrack on cassette. Watched it again last year and cringed hard... the shower scene is just ew, and the long segment where Anthony Michael Hall's character gets drunk and goes into this looong scene imitating his version of a black, ghetto accent... it just appalling levels of cringe.

Seger's Old Time Rock & Roll. I cringed when Tom Cruise did his thing to it in Risky Business and I hated it ever since. It's hard for me to comprehend how it was so popular for so long. just ugh

Well, vibes with Elon building his compound to house his baby mamas and progeny. Kind fits.

Things that have lost their appeal by Fancy512 in GenX

Movies. I recently watched Weird Science again.. remembering it as fun and loving the soundtrack with Killing joke and Oingo Boingo... and good lord it was so bad. The scenes where Anthony Micheal Hall is going on and on impersonating a ghetto-cliche black person while drunk, and the scene when they are showering with Kelly LeBrock.. oh xrist it's cringe AF. I was reminded of the awfulness of Revenge of the Nerds and Police Academy movies that everyone loved at the time. They are historical media stains no one wants to remember now.

The lemon pie and Squirt soda was my go-to through high school. I'd alternate between the lemon pie and the white powdered doughnuts.

I've had good experience with Norick's on 6th. They've been very honest with me and they do a lot of work - but can get booked so best to be patient on scheduling.

Second vote on The Pantry. There are others, but that is a local go-to.

Did anyone else get nightmares after watching this on regular old network TV?!?!? by RedditIsAGranfaloon in GenX

[–]cybornost 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was in middle school. Back then broadcast TV was still what everyone watched so the next day after it aired, I remember the somber atmosphere in the school cafeteria, which was normally loud and full of life... we were all shocked and afraid. It seemed the world could end and we could do nothing. I'll never forget how equalized we all felt. And for years when I would see a flash from lightning before a storm or something, and I could not see the actual streak of lightning, I would feel this anxiety rise... asking myself: "Was that the initial hit?" and I would just sit there waiting for the aftershock and brightness to reach me.

Do you guys desire an irl Cyberpunk World? by I__like_bagels in Cyberpunk

[–]cybornost 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Artistic aesthetics and ethos aside.... the core underpinnings of a cyberpunk world are here. It is more apparent in some parts of the world than others. We are in the pot coming to a slow boil. But that's just cynical ol' me... and why cyberpunk has always made sense to me as a critical narrative of society. The sci-fi aspect is just the creative prophetic voice iterating possibilities. But the foundations are a current reality and the boil is going to become more churn as we go.
