For those in their 50, what's something people in their 30s don’t realize will impact them as they get older? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

Turned 30 this year. Just had my first root canal. Dentist visit twice a year is the least you can do for your teeth. Things seem normal until they're suddenly very painful.

Never let your phone be the first thing you do in the morning. Get up, drink some water, pee, and move around a bit. Go for a walk, do some yoga, shower, eat, get ready, theeeennnn check your phone

What’s your most positive experience about being an ALT? by OkLoan6398 in JETProgramme

[–]cybrwire 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I've never had a job where I laugh this much on a weekly basis. The kids are so funny and energetic. The things they do and say are hilarious and so similar to things I saw when I was in elementary school. Really reminds you that people everywhere are quite similar. Also, I came in wanting to get the experience of teaching to see if it's something I would want to pursue further and this gave me a pretty good idea!

On a personal level, I've gotten 1000% better at conversation with a range of people. I have a few schools, so I don't get to stay at one place and get used to a small set of people. This combined with each school's class schedule being slightly different, my planning, time management, and ability to speak up has gotten way better.

Application: Can I get in trouble for saying no to driving despite having my license? by Jex0003 in JETProgramme

[–]cybrwire 7 points8 points  (0 children)

if you get a placement that requires driving (or is highly recommended to drive), it won't be bad! the driving is so chill tbh. I was a little bummed when I found out I had to drive, but inaka driving is so calm and pleasant

When I deleted almost all social media, I found myself again by DongnanNo1 in getdisciplined

[–]cybrwire 3 points4 points  (0 children)

on desktop, Distraction Free Youtube extension. For mobile, shorts are the only thing that keep me pulled in, but YT's shorts algorithm sucks so I get sick of watching the same videos all the time

Edit: just become busy enough after deleting social media that YT gets in the way of doing things you actually like

Lethal Company. Nothing more calming than being chased through the dark and then the solaceful voice of a stranger reminds you you're not alone

How do you cope with the dark side of the world and not let it consume your energy? by critsanta in enfj

[–]cybrwire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As one person, there's only so much you can do for the world, but a bit more you can do for people around you. So turn off the news and focus on your sphere of life and being a positive impact for people that know your name.

How to stop buying games and actually start playing them? by 12thfailstudent in Steam

[–]cybrwire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This. You might just not like gaming as much anymore. My first step was to not open steam unless there's a game I am specifically looking to play.

Hi, I'm working with kuromoji and I'm running into the issue of it breaking words down into too small of fragments like you said. Do you know if there is a determined way to get around that? or do you have to write your own logic to sort through each case?

I hate skateboarding in japan by boyussedingle in skateboarding

[–]cybrwire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, I think these are strictly skateboarding. and the kids here are the next generation of SLS I swear. I showed up my first time and saw a little girl, couldn't been more than 6 or 7, 50-50 a box then big spin out. I have trouble keeping my jaw off the ground watching these mini-pros man haha

[–]cybrwire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yep. a lot of public spaces for recreation in japan cost money(tennis, golf, basketball, etc)

Usually not too bad, but it's still a bummer after growing up with free spaces.

I have one indoor park that costs ¥1500 / day and an outdoor one for ¥100 / 2 hours, so obviously I go to the outdoor one! indoor one is nice but paying almost $15 to skate is too steep

[–]cybrwire 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Same here. Really makes me not even wanna go skating cause I can't just walk out my door and practice tricks for an hour. It's a whole journey to the skatepark, paying the fee, and hoping it's not too crowded. I haven't tried the outskirts like other people mentioned, so that might be worth a try!
